Barcelona vs Levante Predictions and Betting Tips: Copa del Rey Preview

Barcelona betting tips

Barcelona vs Levante predictions, betting tips and preview for their Copa de Rey second leg match on Thursday 17th January. This match takes place at the Nou Camp where Barcelona must win in order to progress to the next round.

European giants Barca are currently top of La Liga but suffered a blip last week, where they lost 2-1 away at Levante. Ernesto Valverde left several  of his big guns on the bench but is expected to recall them for Thursday’s clash.

Barcelona vs Levante Predictions

If Barca are to retain their title as Copa del Rey champions then they simply have to win here in order to reach the next round. Spain’s primary club competition is, somewhat unusually, played over two legs in every round – with Barca losing by the odd goal in three when the teams met in Valencia last week. You’d suspect that slip-up won’t be repeated here, and the bookies obviously think so too. The Catalan giants are 1/8 to win the match in 90 minutes or a 1/5 poke to qualify, so there’s no prizes for guessing who the overwhelming favourites is. It’s worth remembering, though that Barcelona were also favourites the last time these two met. The home side have been uncharacteristically strong at the back generally this season, keeping clean sheets in four of their last five La Liga wins. On that basis, I like the look of the even money available on Barca winning to nil here – particularly as the visitors won’t necessarily be inclined to attack given that a 0-0 draw would see them progress.

Barcelona vs Levante Goalscorer Prediction

There simply are not enough superlatives to describe the freakish statistics posted by Lionel Messi so we won’t even bother trying to outdo the pundits. Argentina’s highest scorer of all time set another record at the weekend, breaking the 400-goal barrier in La Liga to further enhance a broad perception that he’s the greatest player to ever play the game. What can be said about Messi that hasn’t been said before? Usually, it’s fair to draw the conclusion that there’s not much value in backing him to score anytime due to the frequency with which it happens. But considering that Messi’s absence from the team last week was undoubtedly a factor in their subsequent defeat, I can’t overlook the almost inevitable outcome of him scoring on Thursday to help get Barca through. Not a solitary goal, but a brace, which is a 7/4 shot. Given Messi’s form and the recent milestone, it would be a fitting way to cap the week.

Barcelona vs Levante Match Result Prediction

It’s all set up isn’t it? Barcelona win to nil, Messi scores at least two, and everything else just falls into place. By ‘everything else,’ I am of course talking about our third and final Barcelona vs Levante match betting tip. We know the home side score goals and there’s nothing scientific about selecting a bet that conveys that fact. So why not explore the handicap market? The head-to-head between these two makes for pretty grim reading if you’re a Levante fan and apart from their most recent encounter with Barcelona, the away side have been smashed by at least three goals in their previous trio of meetings. So I’m flabbergasted by the 21/20 available on Valverde’s men winning by two goals or more, and will be stunned if they don’t.

What are the best odds on Barcelona winning by two goals or more? 21/20 with 888Sport.
