Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Predictions and Betting Tips: Championship Preview

Blackburn betting tips

Blackburn vs Middlesbrough predictions and betting tips for this Sunday lunchtime championship fixture on February 17th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Theres a fascinating Championship encounter on Sunday as Tony Mowbray’s host high-flying Middlesbrough at Ewood Park. The Teessider will be facing his former club, and he’ll be desperate to get back to winning ways here. Rovers will be aiming to avoid a fourth successive defeat whilst Boro will be hoping to build upon their decent away form. It should be a fairly even contest.  See our Blackburn vs Middlesbrough predictions below.

Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Predictions

Blackburn have built their campaign on solid home form and they are incredibly difficult to beat at Ewood Park. In-form Bristol City were just the third side to beat them here with high-flying duo Sheffield United and the Norwich, the only other two sides to leave Lancashire with maximum points. Likewise, Boro don’t lost often on the road and Tony Pulis’ team are better away from the Riverside Stadium. Sheffield United beat them in midweek and this isn’t much easier for the Teessiders. They have numerous threats in their XI and could cause problems for an injury-hit Blackburn. It ended 1-1 when the pair met in the North East earlier this campaign and it wouldn’t be surprise to see this also end in a stalemate. Sadly, I’m not sure this is going to be an end-to-end thrill-a-minute affair, but it should be an interesting tactical battle between two managers who have very different philosophies. Neither side will be at full strength here with injuries and suspensions biting hard and it’s hard to have confidence in either team. Draw is the first of our Championsip betting tips for Sunday lunchtime.

Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Goals Betting Tips

Boro’s games have been some of the lowest-scoring in the Championship with an average of just 1.90 goals per game. It rises slightly if you isolate their away games, with an average of just 2.13 goals and there could be value of backing the exact number of goals here. Blackburn failed to net last time out, but they scored seven times in their three previous home matches and they should be able to get themselves onto the score-sheet at the very least. The last five meetings between these sides have ended with 2-3-2-0-2 goals and it’s 11/10 for 2-3 Goals to land once again in this fixture. That might be the best way to approach this tie. 2-3 Goals is the second of our Blackburn vs Middlesbrough predictions for today’s fixtures.

Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

Danny Graham will be keen to find the net against his former club and he could move onto twelve for the campaign with a goal in this clash. He’s scored seven of his eleven at Ewood Park and even if he is restricted to an appearance from the bench, he’ll be chomping at the bit to play against his former employers. The striker is instinctive and despite his advancing years, he’s always a huge danger in and around the box. Danny Graham looks like a decent choice in this market and should be backed to score anytime in this game. He’s the third of our Blackburn vs Middlesbrough predictions.

Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Match Betting Preview

Middlesbrough have been chalked up as the favourites for this tie and they can be backed at 31/20 for this clash. Boro will be without Daniel Ayala and Aden Flint limped off in midweek leaving them potentially short at the back. Blackburn can be backed backed at 21/10 whilst the draw is available at 9/4 and the latter is the first of our betting tips for this Sunday lunchtime fixture.

Given Boro’s low-scoring nature, it means there is always value in backing goals in their games and it’s 6/5 for Over 2.5 Goals in this one. Unders is more likely to appeal to punters, but it’s relatively short at 4/6.

Britt Assombalonga netted twice in Boro’s last away game and he is 11/2 to score the first goal of the game. Bradley Dack is always a threat, but hasn’t been at full fitness in recent weeks and he is the 6/1 second favourite, narrowly ahead of Jordan Hugill, whose 13/2.
