There won’t be many Championship games bigger than this one! Two of the three teams vying for promotion meet at Elland Road on Saturday evening, and it should be a truly absorbing 90 minutes. Both sides have been winning matches comfortably of late, and the duo are also looking defensively sound. The points could be shared in West Yorkshire. Leeds vs Sheffield United Preview

This game could go a long way to deciding which of these two sides gains automatic promotion to the Premier League. It is a shame that one of the top three has to endure the rigmorale of the play-offs, as they’ve all be excellent, and deserve their place in the top flight. Both Sheffield United and Leeds have won five of their last six games, and they each kept another clean sheet in midweek. The Blades haven’t conceded a goal since February 8th, whilst the Whites have shipped just a single goal in 360 minutes of football. There is a must-not-lose element to this game, and there may be a few nervy moments for fans of both sides. There should be a terrific crowd roaring on the home side, but Chris Wilder’s men picked up an excellent result with ten men on Tuesday night, and shouldn’t be underestimated. Billy Sharp is likely to make his return after being rested in midweek, whilst Jack Clarke could come back into the fold for the hosts. Leeds will once again be looking to Pablo Hernandez to pull the strings, with the classy 33-year old likely to revert to a number ten role here. It’s going to be a fascinating tactical battle between two of the most astute operators in the English game. The pair would wipe the floor with some current Premier League bosses, and it’ll be fascinating to see how they approach life in the top flight (should they make it). There is very little to pick between them, both have been defeated on just eight occasions this campaign, and neither are giving away many opportunities at the moment. Draw looks like the sensible bet in this Saturday evening clash. It is the first of our Leeds vs Sheffield United predictions.

Leeds vs Sheffield United Goals Betting Tips

Sheffield United may have played lesser opposition in recent weeks, but they’ve been excellent, and they controlled the game excellently against Brentford in midweek. They were a man light for the majority of that clash with the skilful West Londoners, yet still managed to double their lead late on. Leed also looked in full control against Reading, and rarely looked in danger. I’m desperately hoping that defences don’t come out on top here, but with so much at stake, it might not be a high scoring end-to-end clash. Barnsley faced Sunderland in midweek in a must-not-lose clash for both sides, and ended goalless, and when the stakes are high, the goals are often low. So, I’m taking a chance on Under 2.5 Goals in this one. It is the shorter of the two prices, but it covers both the 0-0 and 1-1. It is the second of our Championship betting tips for Saturday lunchtime.

Leeds vs Sheffield United Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

The aforementioned Pablo Hernandez may be the best option here. He is understandably a bigger price than any of the strikers to find the net in this clash, and he does tend to score in sequences. He netted three times in his first five games this season, and then notched a further four times in as many games throughout November. He’s current on three in three coming into this game, and he could continue his fine scoring run. He is likely to be freed up if Jack Clarke comes back into the side, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get on the scoresheet once again. The cultured playmaker is the third of our Leeds vs Sheffield United predictions for Saturday.

Leeds vs Sheffield United Match Betting Preview

Leeds have been priced up as the 11/10 favourites to collect three points from this tie, and it’s understandable given their home form of late. Sheffield United are incredibly difficult to beat at the moment, and they are priced at 12/5, which is the same price as the draw.

Neither side is conceding many goals lately, but two of the last three clashes between these sides have ended with both sides getting on the scoresheet. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 4/5 in this one. It’s 10/11 for either side to keep a clean sheet in this one.

Patrick Bamford will be fit enough to play here, and he is available at 9/2 to notch the opener in this one. Billy Sharp has been freshened up for this tie, he was thrown on during the latter stages in midweek, and is 6/1 to net the opener. David McGoldrick is always a threat, and he’s 7/1 to break the deadlock in this clash.
