Middlesbrough vs Derby Predictions

Our Championship predictions come from the Riverside on Saturday lunchtime with joint top-of-the-table Middlesbrough hosting in-form Derby County. Contrasting fortunes for these sides in midweek with Boro proving a coupon-buster by drawing 0-0 with Rotherham at the Riverside whilst Derby battered West Brom at the Hawthornes. Tony Pulis’ side are defensively sound but they are having problems in the final third and they’ve failed to find the net in three of their last six Championship games. Home fans have not seen a goal at this stadium since September 19th and despite sitting second in the table, supporters are a little concerned about their side’s lack of firepower. The Rams are certainly not shy in the oppositions box and they’ve now netted six times in the last two matches. Jack Marriott is earning rave reviews in Derbyshire and he’s netted two in two. Frank Lampard’s side are young and energetic but they tend to struggle against lower-ranked sides who set up to defend. However, their record against better sides is pretty impressive. They’ve now beaten West Brom and Sheffield United in successive games and they’ll have nothing to fear here. Middlesbrough aren’t creating enough chances and I can’t back them at a price of 11/10. Instead, take in-form Derby County to get something from this encounter. They are unbeaten in four and are fresh from hitting four past the Baggies. Derby Draw No Bet is priced at 7/4 with 888Sport and is the first of our Middlesbrough v Derby predictions.

Middlesbrough vs Derby Total Goals Odds

Middlesbrough have the lowest goal average in the division with an average of just 1.64 goals per game. Derby have averaged around 2.57 goals per game with their averaged helped by their recent haul of six goals. The Rams may have to be patient in their bid to break down the Boro defence whilst the hosts will be desperate to score in front of their own fans after three consecutive blanks. 57% of Derby’s away games have featured three or more goals but I don’t think it’ll be as straightforward as that against the league’s best defence. Under 2.5 Goals is short price in this game so 2-3 total goals is a more sensible proposition and is available at 11/10 with Bet Victor. It would have landed in three of Derby’s last four games and in four of Middlesbrough’s last five Championship matches and it’s the second of our Middlesbrough vs Derby predictions for Saturday lunchtime.

Middlesbrough vs Derby Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Jack Marriott is the obvious player to back in this game and the former Peterborough man is in a rich vein of form at the moment. However, Harry Wilson is also playing well and is a larger price. The Liverpool loanee has three for the season and the 21-year old has a tendency to score in bigger games. He’s scored against Brentford, West Brom and Manchester United so far and he’s tempting at 41/10 with Unibet to find the net in this game. Harry Wilson is the third of our Middlesbrough vs Derby predictions.

Middlesbrough vs Derby Match Betting Preview

Middlesbrough Win – 11/10

Draw – 23/10

Derby Win – 5/2

[global_advert id=”37941″]

Middlesbrough are favourites for this tie but they have only been victorious in two of their last six games. Tony Pulis needs to find the right balance and many will be tempted to back them at 11/10. They’ve won four of the last seven games at home but aren’t infallible. Derby can be backed at 5/2 and they are building up some momentum. They are four unbeaten and although they are a young side, they are extremely dangerous going forward. The draw is available at 23/10.

Boro have a great defensive record this season but they’ve only kept two clean sheets in the last five and they are playing a side who are full of confidence. Derby’s last four matches have ended with both sides finding the net and Both Teams to Score? Yes is available here Evens. It’s 8/11 for either side to keep a clean sheet.

Despite their troubles in front of goal, Boro’s players dominate the first goalscorer market with Britt Assombalonga available at 4/1 to net the opener. He’s scored five times so far this campaign and is likely to start this game. Jordan Hugill is yet to get off the mark in the league but the West Ham loanee can be backed at 11/2. For Derby, Jack Marriott is available at 7/1 which is the same price as strike-partner Martyn Waghorn. Mason Mount has been in recent form and is 11/1 to net the opener.
