Martin O’Neill will lead Forest into his first East Midlands derby, and his side are currently playing with plenty of confidence. The Tricky Trees have lost just one of their last five matches under the former ROI boss, and they’ve picked up some commendable points against Preston and West Brom. They’ve had nine days to prepare for this tie, and they will be aiming to make it three straight home wins on the bounce. They have a talented squad, and O’Neill has inherited some decent pros. Last weekend, they recorded their first clean sheet since their goalless draw at Pride Park pre-Christmas. There are signs of progress, and they won’t be easy to beat. Derby were beaten by poor travellers Millwall in midweek, with the Lions then comprehensively walloped by Preston on Saturday. Some fans are concerned about the club’s propensity to implode at this time of year, and Frank Lampard being continuously linked with the Chelsea job will not be helping matters. Derby’s away is also a bit of a concern. They’ve won just six times on their travels this season, and have recently dropped points against Ipswich and Leeds. Although Forest have been winning games at home recently, they’ve not been keeping sides off the score-sheet. Wigan and Brentford both scored here, with the Bees coming close to bagging a late equaliser. The Rams have been struggling for firepower in recent weeks, but they have enough firepower in their squad to find their way onto the score-sheet in this fixture. Forest have multiple talented players on their books with Lewis Grabban leading the way when it comes to goalscoring this campaign. However, the frontman has not started every game since O’Neill took charge, so it may be best to look elsewhere. Joe Lolley is a player who is capable of moments of magic, and he is a decent price to find the net in this fixture. The 26-year old has found the net on eight occasions this season, and recently score against Wigan at the City Ground. Forest understandably start as the favourites for this tie, and the hosts can be backed at 11/8 to collect an important three points and seal bragging rights for the season. Derby will be hurting after their midweek defeat, and they are 15/8 to bounce back here. There’s been plenty of draws between the two sides in recent years, and it’s 12/5 to end all-square once again.

It’s 3/4 for BTTS? Yes in this tie, whilst another low-scoring encounter can be backed at Evens.

The aforementioned Lewis Grabban is always potent at this level and he is the 10/3 favourite to open the scoring in this tie. Jack Marriott’s goals have dried up in recent weeks, but he’s 11/2 to net the opener, whilst the experienced Daryl Murphy is the same price. Loanee Leo Bonatini is next in the betting and can be backed at 7/1.
