Stoke vs Middlesbrough Predictions

Our Championship predictions for Saturday night come from the Bet365 Stadium as Stoke host Middlesbrough live on Sky Sports. Stoke picked up an undeserved three points last weekend as they rode out the second half storm against Bristol City. Gary Rowett is still under pressure but the team appear to be playing for the former Derby boss and they are slowly moving in the right direction. The Potters have now lost just one of the last six games in the Championship, beating Bolton, Norwich and the aforementioned Bristol City and holding high-flying Sheffield United to a draw. Jack Butland was superb at Ashton Gate and he will be aiming to pick up his fourth clean sheet in seven games. Middlesbrough were in Carabao Cup action in midweek, beating Crystal Palace although Tony Pulis made a number of changes for that game. Boro’s struggles in front of goal have not gone unnoticed and a small section of the fans are getting incredibly frustrated by their sides lack of creativity. They’ve scored six goals in seven games although they enjoyed a huge slice of fortune against Derby last weekend. Their defence is still very impressive and although their away record is better than their form at the Riverside, I’m not convinced they beat Stoke. Despite their position in the table, Stoke have the fifth best form in the division and only QPR, Hull, Ipswich, Bolton and Rotherham have netted fewer times than the Teessiders this year. The draw is priced at 23/10 with Bet365 and that looks like the best option. The game to end all-square is the first of our Stoke vs Middlesbrough predictions.

Stoke vs Middlesbrough Under/Over Odds

We aren’t looking at prolific sides here with Stoke netting just 8 times in 7 matches at the Bet365 whilst Boro have found the net on just nine occasions on the road so far. Both managers are naturally defensive-minded and we’re finally seeing some backbone about this Stoke side. These two sides have kept 14 clean sheets between them this season and this could be a slow-burner. Earlier in the season, you’d have suggested that Stoke would concede plenty here but even with Ashley Williams in the side, they’ve noticeably tightened up. Under 2.5 Goals is a short price at 6/10 with William Hill but it looks like a decent bet in this game. It is the second of our Stoke vs Middlesbrough predictions for Saturday night.

Stoke vs Middlesbrough Anytime Goalscorer Odds

There aren’t many players who are scoring on a regular basis so we’ll have to take a chance on a player who has plenty of efforts on goal. Tom Ince looked lively against Bristol City and he had a number of shots during the 90 minutes. The winger is a little inconsistent but he’s always in with a chance of finding the net. With Benik Afobe struggling to score and midfielders Darren Fletcher and Joe Allen recently getting on the scoresheet, I believe that Ince can follow suit. Tom Ince to score anytime is 7/2 with Betfair and that’s the last of our Stoke vs Middlesbrough betting tips.

Stoke vs Middlesbrough Match Betting Preview

Stoke Win – 27/10

Draw – 23/10

Middlesbrough – 2/1

It’s the first time in a while that Middlesbrough have been such a big price for a Championship match. Tony Pulis’ side are struggling to pick up maximum points but they are better on the road and can be backed at 2/1 for this game. Stoke are the favourites at 27/10 and they will be looking to make it back-to-back victories. They’ve drawn two of their last six games and it’s 23/10 to finish level once again.

Middlesbrough’s overall defensive record is very impressive and nine clean sheets suggest that they aren’t going to be giving much away. Stoke’s recent defensive performances have caught the eye and they’ve conceded just twice in five matches. Only Birmingham and Sheffield United have found a way through and that in-form duo only netted a goal each. Under 1.5 Goals is 11/5 and could be tempting whilst it’s 8/13 for Under 2.5. The bookies can’t decide which way to go on the Both Teams to Score market although BTTS? No looks like the best of the pair. It’s 5/6.

The goals have dried up for both Benik Afobe and Britt Assombalonga but the pair sit at the top of the first goalscorer market. The Stoke man is always a threat and is priced at 11/2 whilst the former Forest man is available at 5/1 to net the opener. This is a game which could be settled by a late goal and Peter Crouch is available at 7/1 to come off the bench and find the back of the net.
