Stoke vs West Brom Predictions and Betting Tips: Championship Preview

Stoke predictions

Stoke vs West Brom predictions and betting tips for this Saturday evening Championship fixture on February 9th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Stoke have been hugely unpredictable all season and the Potters have struggled for consistency. Nathan Jones has replaced Gary Rowett in the dugout and although there have been signs of improvement, those green shoots failed to trascend into anything more than a faint whiff a possible play-off push. The Welshman has been able to shape his squad during the January transfer window and he’s had time to work with them this week. West Brom were knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton and were forced to play 120 minutes by the Premier League club. They could be feeling the effects here and the home side might actually be able to take advantage of that. See our Stoke vs West Brom predictions below.

Stoke vs West Brom Predictions

Stoke fans have endured a hugely frustrating season in the Championship. After being touted as potential champions, their talented squad buckled under the pressure and Gary Rowett received his marching order with the Potters deeply entrenched in mid-table. Nathan Jones appointment looks like a decent decision but he will need time to shape the squad and develop his preferred style of play. The former Brighton midfielder is a fan of pacey full-backs who are attack-minded but apart from Tom Edwards, there were very few of those at the club. He’s been able to make some additions in the transfer window and with a whole week of training, they should be much better here. At times, they are a mystery wrapped in an enigma but they did beat both Derby and Leeds here and I think they can probably just about edge this clash. WBA needed extra time in midweek and I’m still not convinced about Darren Moore’s side. They’ve won just one of their last five and that came against lowly Bolton. The Baggies could struggle here. A home win is the first of our Stoke vs West Brom predictions for Saturday night.

Stoke vs West Brom Goals Predictions

Neither of these two sides has convinced defensively throughout the campaign and this could be a match which sees both sides get on the scoresheet. West Brom conceded three times to a typically low-scoring Middlesbrough last weekend and they also shipped two goals during a recent trip to Ewood Park. Stoke have seen their opponents score twice in each of their last two matches and whilst Nathan Jones develops his system, defensive solidarity may have to wait. It ended 2-1 when they met at the Hawthornes earlier in the campaign and a similar scoreline could occur here. Both Teams to Score is the second of our Stoke vs West Brom betting tips.

Stoke vs West Brom Anytime Goalscorer Tips

There are a number of goalscoring possibilities in this game and the likes of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle are always a threat. Sam Vokes will be keen to get off the mark after missing a penalty last weekend and he could be one to keep on side here. However, Sam Clucas is the kind of player who should thrive under Nathan Jones’ high-tempo style of play and he looks like a value selection in this market. The midfielder is available at 23/4 to net anytime in this fixture and he is the third of our Championship betting tips for Saturday evening.

Stoke vs West Brom Match Betting Preview

Having home advantage could be key and that’s why Stoke start as favourites for this tie. They can be backed at 11/8 to pick up a much-needed three points here. West Brom are available at 2/1 to secure their fifth away win in six outings and it’s 23/10 to end all-square here.

Over 2.5 Goals lands in a high proportion of WBA games and it’s Evens here. There were three goals when they met earlier in the campaign. Under 2.5 Goals is available at 4/5 for those who believe we will see a low-scoring match at the Bet365.

Dwight Gayle leads the way in the first goalscorer market here and can be backed at 5/1, just ahead of team-mate Jay Rodriguez, who is 13/2. Sam Vokes will be desperate to get off the mark and he is 11/2 to break the deadlock.
