Northern Ireland vs Estonia Predictions and Betting Tips: Euro 2020 Qualifiers Preview

Northern Ireland predictions

Northern Ireland vs Estonia predictions and betting tips for this Thursday’s crucial Euro 2020 qualifier on March 21st with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Northern Ireland will start their qualifying campaign for Euro 2020 on Thursday night at Windsor Park. They have been drawn alongside the Netherlands and familiar foes Germany, so it’s imperative that they get off to the best possible start here. Michael O’Neill’s side qualified for the last tournament, with their solid foundations helping them to a number of clean sheets here. Can they keep things tight against the blueshirts? See our Northern Ireland vs Estonia predictions below.

Northern Ireland vs Estonia Betting Tips

The bookies appear to be one step ahead on the goals market here. They have priced Under 2.5 Goals up at around 1/2, so there is very little value in backing a tight and cagey affair. It could be worth having a look at 2-3 Goals exactly instead. We’re expecting those goals to come from Northern Ireland, and they certainly could grab a couple here. Each of NI’s last four home matches would have paid out in this market, and three of their last four Nations League games. There is no exact science to this selection, but I’d rather take 21/20 than 1/2 anyday of the week, and O’Neill’s men will feel as though they can’t afford to rest on their laurels if they take the lead in this encounter. 2-3 Goals Exactly is the second of our Euro 2020 Qualifying predictions.

Steven Davies might be the man to find the back of the net here. His last goal came for his country back at the start of the season. He netted against Israel here at Windsor Park, and he may be put on penalty duties once again. He is yet to get off the mark for Rangers, but he’s playing regular football again, and that will surely help his cause. He is likely to be selected for this game, and offers some value in the anytime goalscorer market. He’s also previously netted against San Marino, and I think he stands a good chance of finding the back of the net in this game. NI are likely to break the deadlock via a corner, free-kick routine or from the spot, and Davis will certainly be involved in the latter. He is the third of our Northern Ireland vs Estonia predictions.

Northern Ireland vs Estonia Preview

Michael O’Neill has acknowledged that his side will find it difficult to qualify for Euro 2020, but he also suggested that it would be the nation’s “greatest achievement” if they were able to make it to the tournament. His young squad will begin their campaign against Estonia, before hosting Belarus on Sunday, and it is a chance to build up some momentum ahead of clashes with the Netherlands and Germany. Ollie Norwood won’t feature for personal reasons, whilst Will Grigg and Correy Evans will both be assessed prior to kick off. O’Neill is worried that a few of his players haven’t been playing on a regular basis, but there is a collective spirit and togetherness in the camp which should help them collect three points in this one. During their World Cup qualifiers, they beat Norway and Czech Republic here, before narrowly losing to Switzerland in the play-offs. They were a little disappointing here at Windsor Park during the UEFA Nations League, but they should be able to bounce back here. They are priced at 1/2, and are expected to prevail, so it’s best to look elsewhere for potential value.

Estonia don’t have many goals in the side, and Ireland’s defence should hold firm here. The visitors failed to find the net against Hungary and Finland before benefitting from an own goal against Greece. NI should win this game, and they are likely to keep it tight. To increase the value, we’re opting for Northern Ireland to Win and Under 3.5 Goals. That allows us 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1 scorelines. It is the first of our Euro 2020 qualifying predictions for Thursday.

Northern Ireland vs Estonia Betting Odds

Northern Ireland are odds-on favourites to win this tie, and can be backed at 1/2. Michael O’Neill’s side are always strong at home, and will be expected to kick-off with three points. The draw is 11/4, and would be a huge blow for their hopes of qualifying. Estonia can be backed at 8/1 to leave NI with all three points.

Very few goals are expected here, and this may not be the best place for entertainment on Thursday night. It’s 1/2 for Under 2.5 Goals in this game, whilst it’s a tempting 6/4 for Under 1.5 Goals.

Will Grigg took a while to get off the mark for his new club, but he netted at the weekend for Sunderland, and can be backed at 9/2 to grab the first of the game here. Liam Boyce was also back on the score-sheet on Saturday for Burton and he can be backed at 5/1 to break the deadlock.
