Crystal Palace vs Grimsby Predictions and Betting Tips: FA Cup Preview

Crystal Palace betting tips

Crystal Palace vs Grimsby predictions and betting tips for this FA Cup match on Saturday evening with a goals prediction and anytime goalscorer included.

Expert Tipster Prediction: If this fixture had been drawn the opposite way around and was being held at Blundell Park, a potential shock may have been on the cards in the FA Cup. However, Michael Jolley’s injury-hit squad must travel to London to face a Crystal Palace side who were victorious at Molyneux in midweek. The Mariners have enjoyed a resurgence in recent months and Jolley must take credit for the job he has done with a limited squad but this could be a bridge too far. They succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Mansfield on New Years Day and although they will enjoy the occasion here, they could find this tough going. They should be able to play their part in an entertaining third round fixture however so expect some goals in this game.

Crystal Palace vs Grimsby Predictions

Crystal Palace’s home form in the Premier League is a bit of a concern but the Eagles have soared on the road in recent weeks and have beaten Wolves and Manchester City on their travels. The Selhurst Park faithful haven’t had much to cheer this season but they should be able to see their side dominate this game. Even with a few chances to the line-up, Palace should be too strong. Papa Souare, Max Meyer and even Connor Wickham could start this game but that shouldn’t have a detrimental effect on the result. Grimsby have battled well this season and they’ve bounced back from a poor start. I’ve enjoyed watching them play with plenty of energy and they were boosted by the news that Sunderland loanee Elliott Embleton will remain at the club until the end of the campaign. Barring their 1-0 defeat to Mansfield, they’ve been scoring plenty of goals lately and I think they will be able to make a decent game of this. They carry a threat and won’t be afraid to attack. I fancy Grimsby to get on the scoresheet but inevitably come up short in this one.

Crystal Palace vs Grimsby Betting Tips

Crystal Palace should be able to slip into the fourth round draw without too many problems. They have an increased amount of confidence following a couple of decent results on the road and I expect Roy Hodgson to take the competition seriously. They have faced tougher opposition in the competition in recent years and Palace fans will be pleased with this draw. I expect the Mariners to get on the scoresheet but I also expect Palace to net a few here. Grimsby have conceded two goals on their travels in four of their last seven matches and these strikes have typically been spread across the game. Palace should be able to find the net before half-time and then again after the break. There is little value in backing Over 2.5 Goals in this fixture so it’s better to take the 7/10 on offer for Palace to net in both halves. That is the second of our Crystal Palace vs Grimsby betting tips for Saturday afternoon.

Connor Wickham is likely come into the side for this clash after coming off the bench against Wolves on Wednesday night. He has been linked with move back to the North East but he is likely to feature against Grimsby. The striker has spent a lot of time away from the squad but he undoubtedly still possessing his eye for goal and could be the best bet in this game. He may struggle to cut the mustard in the top flight but he was excellent at the lower level and should be able to find joy against Grimsby. The big striker will be looking to impress especially if he’s seeking a move away from the club in January. He is the third of our Crystal Palace vs Grimsby predictions for this FA Cup tie.

Crystal Palace vs Grimsby Match Preview

This game is expected to go the way of the Premier League outfit especially playing in front of their own fans. They are likely to make changes but will still be included in many people’s accumulators this weekend. The Eagles are 1/6 to secure their place in the next round of the competition. The Mariners arrive in decent nick, barring a few absentees and will be confident of giving Palace a few scares. They are 20/1 to pull off a shock here whilst it’s 7/1 for the tie to require a replay.

There should be a few goals in this game and Over 2.5 Goals is available at just 1/2. More ambitious punters may fancy Over 3.5 Goals which is currently available at 6/5. Many of Grimsby’s recent away games have contained 2-3 goals and it’s 6/5 to finish in this way once more.

Wilfried Zaha is the favourite in the first goalscorer market although we won’t whether he takes part until around 4pm on Saturday afternoon. If he does, 7/2 looks a decent price for him to break the deadlock. Jordan Ayew, who netted in midweek is 4/1 to score the opener and he is a likely starter here. Wes Thomas, who has been profitable to follow lately is 18/1 to score the first goal of the game for the away side.
