Barnsley predictions

Barnsley vs Luton predictions and League One betting tips for Saturday lunchtime’s fixture. Kick-off is 12pm on the 13th of October and our tipster has selected three recommended bets.

Barnsley vs Luton Predictions

Our League One predictions take us to Oakwell for this televised clash between two of the fancied teams this season. Barnsley sit fourth in the table and are still available at 2/5 for promotion and the Tykes come off the back of a confidence-boosting 4-0 victory against Peterborough. Daniel Stendel’s side have a game in hand on the majority of their rivals and have only suffered one defeat so far this campaign. The players immediately took to the German’s high press, high tempo style of football and the fans are enjoying watching their side play an attacking brand of football. Their results have actually been slightly better on the road this season with dropped points against Plymouth and AFC Wimbledon at Oakwell so far. Brad Potts and George Moncur have been in excellent form recently and Kieffer Moore is a constant threat at this level. Luton have taken time to find their feet at this level but Nathan Jones’ side are adapting well and they come here in a good run of form. They have the best home form in the division but are struggling away from home. Their only victory on their travels came against rock-bottom Oxford United whilst they’ve suffered defeats against Doncaster, Peterborough and Plymouth. The return to form of James Justin is a huge boost and there is little doubt that the Hatters will put up an excellent fight in front of the Sky cameras but their away form is concerning. They’ve had some difficult away games and have lost to sides sat 1st, 2nd and 8th and this will be far from straightforward. The hosts are the first of our Barnsley vs Luton predictions and they are available at Evens with William Hill.

Barnsley vs Luton Under/Over Odds

Barnsley have the best defence in the division and have conceded just seven times so far this campaign. However, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five games and only Ivan Toney’s wayward spotkick saved them from making it an imperfect 5/5 on Saturday. Luton have netted 17 times this season and they carry a real goal threat. They are one of the in-form teams in the division and they won’t go down lightly here. If you take the form table [six games] in isolation, 60% of their games have produced Over 2.5 Goals and 67% have landed BTTS. There have been 30 goals in Barnsley’s 11 League One games and that’s an average of 2.73 goals per match with Luton’s 12 matches producing an average of 2.67 goals. There should be plenty of goalmouth action in this one. It’s 5/6 with Bet Victor for Over 2.5 Goals and that is the second of our Barnsley vs Luton predictions.

Barnsley vs Luton Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Kieffer Moore is understandably the favourite in the anytime goalscorer market but the 26-year old has scored just once since September 1st. Barnsley have a lively midfield who just love to pour forward at every opportunity and Brad Potts has been in excellent form recently. The former Blackpool winger has now scored four times this season and he looks like a decent prospect to find the net. He’s a standout price of 13/5 with Bet365 to score anytime in this game and is the third of our Barnsley vs Luton predictions.

Luton Win – 13/5

There isn’t much between this pair in the table but Barnsley are sat in fourth and they are listed as the favourites for this game and can be backed at Evens. The Tykes haven’t been as effective on home turf but they come off the back of a sensational 4-0 victory and that is likely to have been factored into the price. Luton have been poor on the road so far this season although there are signs of revival. Luton have the second best form in the league [behind Doncaster] but they majority of their recent encounters have been at Kennilworth Road. It’s 12/5 for the game to end all-square and the visitors have drawn two of their last four on the road.

Both Teams to Score will be popular in this game and is likely to be a cornerstone of BTTS accumulators this weekend. It’s available at 8/13 with Bet365 and Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 4/5. For those who fancy a low-scoring encounter, it’s Evens for Under 2.5 Goals.

Kieffer Moore got off to a flying start and it’s no surprise to see the former Ipswich striker priced up as the favourite in the first goalscorer market. He is available at 15/4 to open the scoring. Mammadou Thiam is next in the betting at 11/2. Danny Hylton could return from injury this weekend and will be keen to hit the ground running. He’s 6/1 to break the deadlock.
