Portsmouth vs Rotherham betting tips

Portsmouth vs Oxford predictions and betting tips for the League One clash on the 25th March at Fratton Park. We have an anytime goalscorer pick and outright prediction included.

Amazing, Oxford have gone almost two months without appointing Pep Clotet’s successor. A number of names have been linked including former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson but none of them have made their way to the Kassam. After resigning at Charlton on Wednesday, Karl Robinson looks set to be announced as the new man in the dugout and could be appointed in time to take charge of first team affairs on Sunday. The scouser may opt to take a watching brief as his side face a tough trip to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth. Pompey got back to winning ways last weekend with a solid 2-0 victory over Oldham, although they were given a helping hand by Johnny Placide in the Latics goal. They have been poor at home recently and have slipped up against both Blackpool and Gillingham. Kenny Jackett will be desperate for his side to make it back-to-back League One wins and keep their faint play-off hopes alive. Portsmouth vs Oxford Predictions

Despite not having a manager, the U’s were victorious last weekend and that should have increased confidence in the camp. Their away form is patchy with just one win in five and they have suffered disappointing defeats against AFC Wimbledon and Walsall. Portsmouth’s wretched home form has seen them slip to eight and with four defeats in five home matches, I’m hardly at the front of the queue to take an odds-on price for Pompey here. Their last victory in front of their own fans came on December 30th and I’d rather take a draw in this hard-fought encounter between two underperforming teams. The first of our Portsmouth vs Oxford betting tips is Draw which is priced at 27/11 with Sport Pesa.

Goals Tip

Neither side have been particularly impressive at the back recently although Pompey did at least keep a clean sheet against Oldham last weekend. Their last shutout here came on December 16th and against an Oxford side, who have newfound confidence, their poor record is likely to continue here. In League One, only Northampton have prevented Oxford from getting onto the scoresheet on their travels in 2018. Both Teams to Score? Yes is 10/11 with William Hill and is the second of our Portsmouth vs Oxford betting tips.

Anytime Goalscorer Prediction

James Henry is an extremely handy player at this level and he regularly chips in with goals. Of the shorter prices in this market, only Brett Pitman is prolific enough to merit a second glance. Henry is a much bigger price and the former Millwall man is capable of hurting the opposition. James Henry in the anytime goalscorer market is priced at 4/1 with Betfred and is the last of our Portsmouth vs Oxford betting predictions.

Portsmouth vs Oxford Betting Preview

Portsmouth are going to start this game as the 5/6 favourites to take all three points and continue their play-off push. They haven’t been consistent enough this season but will hope to get back on track against the U’s. Oxford can be supported at 13/4 to make it successive victories whilst the draw is available at 27/11.

The bookies are slightly favouring a cagey match with Under 2.5 Goals priced at 4/5 compared to the 39/40 available on three or more in the game.

Brett Pitman is 16/5 to score the score the first goal of the game and make it three in two whilst Oxford’s Wes Thomas will also be popular at 11/2. Jamal Lowe has also been in decent form and is available at 15/2 for the hosts.

All these odds are from Sport Pesa
