Lille vs Monaco Predictions and Betting Tips: Ligue 1 Preview

Lille vs Monaco predictions and betting tips for this Friday’s Ligue 1 clash on March 15th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

This season’s surprise package in the French top flight has been Lille. The men from the north have been nothing short of sensational, and deservedly occupy second place behind runaway leaders PSG. Les Dogues are still unbeaten in 2019, and they will fancy their chances against Monaco on Friday night. The side from the principality have been poor on the road recently, but are unbeaten in three of their last four games on the road. See our Lille vs Monaco predictions below.

Lille vs Monaco Preview

Lille have managed to win 17 of their 28 games in Ligue 1 this season, and their superb form has shown no signs of abating. They picked up a superb victory against St.Etienne at the weekend, and will be looking to follow it up with another three points against struggling Monaco. The visitors have improved since Leonardo Jardim returned to the club, and they’ve become much harder to beat, but they still lack quality. They remain undefeated since January 26th, but squandered a 1-goal lead against Bordeaux at the weekend, and will have been disappointed that they weren’t able to move further clear of the relegation zone. Their away form hasn’t been too bad in recent months, although their sole victories on their travels came against Caen and Amiens, two of the sides who sit alongside them in the bottom five. Nevertheless, they are digging in, they look fairly well organised, and I would fancy them to frustrate Lille for large portions of this game. Although Nicolas Pepe has been making most of the headlines, Lille have been impressive at the other end of the field, and with just nine home goals conceded all season, they should prevail. Toulouse are the only side to have won here, even if it was hugely undeserved, and I can’t see Monaco adding their name to that exclusive list. The danger here is the possibility of the draw, but Monaco have failed to keep clean sheets in each of their last four away games, and if Lille get ahead, they should win this. The hosts are the first of our Ligue 1 betting tips for Friday’s game.

Lille vs Monaco Goals Predictions

Only PSG have conceded fewer home goals than Lille this season, and after keeping back-to-back, they will be confident of preserving that fine record here. They’ve conceded just a single goal since the end of January, and they are suitably well-organised. Monaco have scored 14 times away from home this season, although they managed to net twice against Angers and Montpellier, they could struggle to find a way through on Friday night. Games between these sides have typically been high-scoring in the past, but it’s difficult to see this going to the same way. If Monaco do get on the scoresheet, it is unlikely to be more than a single strike, so 2-3 Goals looks like the obvious pick. It’s landed in three of Monaco’s last six games and four of Lille’s last seven matches. It is the second of our Lille vs Monaco predictions.

Lille vs Monaco Anytime Goalscorer Tips

Nicolas Pepe has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich over the last couple of weeks, and talks have already reportedly begun between the two parties. He has played a major part in Lille’s success this season, and he netted the match-winner against St.Etienne last weekend. That was the 23-year old’s first goal in five appearances, but he has 23 for the campaign, and it looks sensible to back him to make it two in two here. He should get plenty of chances in this match, and he’ll be hungry to add to his tally. Nicolas Pepe is the third of our betting tips for this Ligue 1 encounter on Friday evening.

Lille vs Monaco Match Betting Preview

Lille are surprisingly odds-against for this game, although that price may shorten ahead of kick-off. They can be backed at 13/10, and many punters feel that they have been underestimated by the bookies throughout the campaign. Monaco can be backed at 12/5, whilst the draw is a fraction shorter at 11/5 in this game. It ended 0-0 when they met earlier in the campaign at Stade Louis II.

Lille’s games haven’t been full of goals this season, although 64% of their matches at home have landed Over 2.5 Goals. This is perhaps skewed by the fact they’ve battered some of the strugglers in the division. However, it is available at 11/10, and stats players will be keen to snap that value up. Under 2.5 Goals is as short as 4/6.

Radamel Falcao is one of the many players who has benefitted from Jardim’s return, and the injury-prone Colombian has been finding the net in recent weeks. He is 4/1 to open the scoring here. The aforementioned Nicolas Pepe is second in the odds at 9/2, whilst Rafael Leao is priced at 13/2. Jonathon Bamba is one goal away from double figures for the season, and is 7/1 to break the deadlock.
