Italy vs Portugal Predictions

Our Nations League betting tips continue on Saturday night at the San Siro with Italy taking on Portugal. Roberto Manici hasn’t enjoyed the greatest start in the Azurri hotseat. His team weren’t able to beat Poland and lost to Portugal in the reverse fixture but he did get a reprieve last time out and they’ve somehow managed to keep their chances of qualification alive. They sit two points behind today’s opponents and this is now a ‘must-win’ clash. They can’t be relegated from Group A3 as Poland have already clinched the wooden spoon but there is plenty of incentive for them to pick up three points on home soil. Italy have struggled for consistency and they won’t be helped by Fernando Bernadeschi’s absence. They’ve scored just a single goal from open play in 270 minutes of football and I can’t be backing them at around 5/4. Portugal may be without Cristiano Ronaldo once again but that hasn’t stopped them making it a perfect two from two in this competition so far. Despite being a bit sloppy against Poland, they still managed to secure three points and the likelihood is that they will only require a point from this fixture. They have a terrible head-to-head record against this opposition which is off-putting but they have won their last two meetings and I think they can get something from this game. A draw will be favourable for Portugal and that seems like a realistic outcome for this Nations League clash.

Draw is the first of our Nations League predictions and is available at 23/10 with Unibet.

Italy vs Portugal Under/Over Predictions

There is plenty at stake in this fixture and there doesn’t appear to be a lot between these two teams. It could make for a tense and tight 90 minutes. A late Andre Silva strike settled the contest when they met earlier this year and four of the last seven meetings between them have ended 1-0. Italy will need to be careful in this tie and they can’t afford to fall behind. Portugal’s defence has been largely excellent over the past couple of years and I really can’t see this game being an all-action, end-to-end contest. Under 2.5 Goals is a short-price but it looks the best option in this one.

Under 2.5 Goals is the second of our Italy vs Portugal predictions and is available at 6/10 with Boylesports

Italy vs Portugal Anytime Goalscorer Betting Tip

Andre Silva is the obvious choice in this market but he hasn’t netted for five games in all competitions and looks a little short in the market. At a bigger price, Bernardo Silva may be a better option. The Man City player has established himself as an effective part of the side and rarely misses a game for the Premier League leaders. He’s netted six times this season and that includes two strikes in the Champions League as well as a goal against Poland during the last International Break. He can provide a huge threat in this fixture and he should be able to find a way through this Italian defence.

Bernardo Silva is a good option to score anytime at 6/1 with Betfair and is the third of our Italy vs Portugal predictions.

Italy vs Portugal Match Betting Preview

Italy start as the 5/4 favourites for this tie and their need for points in this fixture will persuade many punters to side with Roberto Mancini’s men. They do have a great record on home soil against Portugal and if they can emerge victorious here, they will open up Group A3 of the Nations League. A point should just about see the 2016 European Champions over the line and a draw is available at 23/10. Fernando Santos’ side are incredibly difficult to beat and they should be able to take something from this game. They are 13/5 to win it.

Just one goal separated them when they last met and this isn’t a fixture which is renowned for being high-scoring. Both Teams to Score? No is available at 8/11 and will be popular. It’s Evens for both teams to hit the back of the net. Under 2.5 Goals is fairly short but can be backed at 4/7.

Andre Silva, whose goal separated the sides when they last met is towards the top of the first goalscorer market and can be backed at 6/1. For Italy, Ciro Immobile is available at 5/1 whilst the excellently-named Kevin Lasagna is 13/2 to net the opener. In-form Lorenzo Insigne is 15/2 to break the deadlock whilst Federico Chiesa is next in the market at 17/2.
