The Netherlands will be hoping to make their long-awaited return to a major tournament next year, and they begin their quest to qualify for Euro 2020 on Thursday evening at home to Belarus. Ronald Koeman’s side have successive matches on home soil, and will be confident of getting the ball rolling in Rotterdam. Can the Oranje continue their fine run of form? Netherlands vs Belarus Betting Tips

It’s a short price, but it is worth backing the Netherlands to find the net in both halves here. This bet would have paid out in their last two home games against Germany and France, and this should be a little easier for them. It would also have paid out in six of the their last seven World Cup qualifiers, and it is particularly common against lower-ranked opposition. More pertinently, the Netherlands scored in each half when the sides met during their last qualification meetings. They won 3-1 and 4-1 in those two encounters, with the Oranje striking early in both fixtures. I expect another fast start on Thursday night, and although it’s only 4/6, it is undoubtedly worth backing them to net in each half. It is the second of our Netherlands vs Belarus predictions.

Despite his poor for Lyon, it’s worth taking a chance on Memphis Depay to score his first goal since December. Ronald Koeman has told the media that he isn’t enjoying his time in France, and is always happier and more relaxed with his fellow countrymen. He enjoys his International football, and is often played through the middle, which suits his explosive style. Clearly, the wantaway winger views this as the perfect chance to forget about his troubles in southern France, and that could lead to a goal or two in this fixture. Depay is also handy from a set-piece, and he despite being a shade of odds-on, he looks a decent anytime goalscorer in this fixture. Memphis Depay is the third of our Netherlands vs Belarus predictions for Thursday.

Netherlands vs Belarus Preview

Koeman’s men have qualified for the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League, and if they go all the way, they will automatically qualify for Euro 2020. They face England in June, but the former Everton boss says his side can’t afford to rest on their laurels. He knows the importance of getting off to a good start, and they’ve been dealt a helping hand with back-to-back home matches. Germany will visit on Sunday, but the Oranje must ensure they take three points from a winnable-looking game with Belarus.

The visitors remained unbeaten in the Nations League last year, but the quality of opposition is debateable. They couldn’t find a way past Moldova, but did beat Luxembourg and San Marino to help them top League D, Group 2. Belarus do offer a goal-threat, but they are far from secure at the back. During their WC Qualification, they failed to win a single game on the road, and lost 4-1 here in Rotterdam back in October 2016. The Netherlands have seemingly improved since then, and they will be expected to rack up a few goals here.

There are very few injury concerns for the hosts, so Koeman can select his best XI, and that should help them ease through this tie. Despite concerns about the scheduling of these fixtures, Koeman will be desperate for his side to get off to a winning start and I think the Netherlands can cruise through this one. Having recently beaten Germany and France here in recent months, and kept clean sheets in both, I can’t imagine they’ll slip up against Belarus. The away side are potentially dangerous on the break, but leaky at the back against bigger opposition, so goals are the order of the day. Netherlands to Win and Over 3.5 Goals is the first of our Euro 2020 Qualifying predictions for Thursday.

Netherlands vs Belarus Betting Odds

Netherlands are 1/7 to pick up three points, and having recently beaten this opposition, they will be a cornerstone of many Thursday night accumulators. It’s 7/1 for the game to end all-square, but most punters are likely to look towards the handicap markets instead. It’s 11/10 for Holland -2, and that looks like a sensible option here.

Goals are expected here, and it’s 19/40 for Over 2.5 Goals in this tie. Over 3.5 Goals is 6/5 and could be tempting in this one. The Netherlands did keep a clean sheet against Germany and France, but Belarus will offer a threat, and it’s 13/8 for Both Teams to Score? Yes in this tie.

Memphis Depay is 7/2 to net the first goal of the game, and should be rejuvinated by a return to International football. Luuk de Jong is 4/1 to break the deadlock whilst Ryan Babel, who netted at the weekend is also 4/1 to score the opener. Virgil Van Dijk, who is always handy from a set-piece situation is available at 16/1 to score the first.
