Southampton vs Fulham Predictions and Betting Tips: Premier League Preview

Southampton betting tips

Southampton vs Fulham predictions and betting tips for this Wednesday evening Championship match on February 27th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

There’s a full Premier League card in midweek, and Fulham face another must-win contest at St.Marys. The Cottagers were defeated in West Ham on Friday with Manuel Pellegrini’s side helping put another nail in Fulham’s relegation coffin. The Saints have been much improved recently, although they’ve lost two on the bounce coming into this clash. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are back in the drop zone, and they will be hoping for three points in this very winnable game. See our Southampton vs Fulham predictions below.

Southampton vs Fulham Predictions

Fulham haven’t visited this ground for six years, but they were 2-0 winners when they last played host to Fulham back in 2013. The Saints are still mired in relegation trouble after failing to win any of their last four games, but they can be considered unlucky to have lost at here against Cardiff, out-shooting their opponents before conceding a last-gasp strike to the Bluebirds. They didn’t perform too badly against Arsenal at the weekend, but they weren’t able to find a way past the Gunners. They have enough quality to stay in the top flight, and winning here would help them take a giant step forward. Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted that his side were second best in that match, but this is the ideal fixture to bounce back. Claudio Ranieri’s appointment has not had the desired effect, and the Italian is struggling to get a tune out of his side. Fulham’s poor form has seen them become deeply mired in the drop-zone, and a defeat here would be incredibly damaging. They’ve lost four away games in a row, suffering defeats to Burnley, Palace, Burnley and Arsenal and they look set to make it five here. They scored after three minutes against West Ham, but their defence let them down once again. Southampton should have enough here to win this battle at the bottom. They have won the battle of the XG between these two sides and the Saints are the first of our Southampton vs Fulham predictions for Wednesday night.

Southampton vs Fulham Goals Betting Tips

Fulham may be struggling this season, but they have certainly been entertaining to watch this campaign. Ranieri’s side aren’t creating or conceding as many goals as they did under Slavisa Jokanovic, but they are still regularly involved in games which are goal-heavy. 16 of their 27 games this season have featured three or more goals, and this could continue that trend. Southampton have shown their propensity to concede silly goals lately, and they aren’t defending as effectively as in previous weeks. There were five goals when these two sides met earlier in the campaign, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if we have another high-scoring affair here. Over 2.5 Goals is the second of Premier League betting tips for Wednesday.

Southampton vs Fulham Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

Southampton’s major problem this season has been scoring goals, and they don’t have many prolific players in their squad. Shane Long works hard, Danny Ings has improved and Charlie Austin is out-of-favour. They’ve been relying on the goals of Nathan Redmond recently, and he could be a possibility in this market. However, I’m opting for James Ward-Prowse. The midfielder is likely to be on penalty duty, and with Fulham’s clumsy defence, the Saints may get the opportunity from the spot. He’s scored twice in his last five EPL matches, and he could add to that tally against the Cottagers. James Ward-Prowse is the third of our Southampton vs Fulham betting tips for Wednesday night.

Southampton vs Fulham Match Betting Preview

Southampton are the favourites for this tie, and they can be backed at 19/20 to take three points from this relegation battle. Fulham are priced at 17/5 to secure a valuable win on the south coast, whilst it is 5/2 to end all-square.

These two played out an entertaining game earlier in the campaign at Craven Cottage, and the Cottagers have conceded 11 goals in their last four away matches. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 8/11, whilst Over 2.5 Goals can be backed at 3/4.

Danny Ings is the favourite in the first goalscorer market and he is 10/3 to net the opening goal of the game. Charlie Austin is unlikely to start this game, although he is 5/1 to net the opener. Shane Long is 6/1 to break the deadlock, whilst the lively Nathan Redmond is available at 13/2.
