Who you should have a Betfred account:
Switzerland beat Northern 1-0 Ireland at Windsor in the first leg of their playoff tie, and needed a controversial converted penalty to seal the win. However, the Swiss were the dominant team during the match and they won nine of their ten group matches prior to this two-legged affair. Northern Ireland face a difficult task when travelling to Basel for the return match, and they lost three of their group games which included defeats in Germany and Norway without scoring a goal. The Irish may lack the firepower to trouble the Swiss, with a home win expected.
Switzerland to beat Northern Ireland.
Croatia claimed an emphatic first leg aggregate lead when beating Greece 4-1 in this playoff tie. The Greeks now need to claim at least a 3-0 victory in Piraeus but they will be aware that the visitors conceded no more than one goal in any of their group matches. Greece also won just two of five home matches in Group H with both Estonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina leaving with draws. In chasing goals, the Greek defence could become exposed and Croatia possess sufficient strength in attack to claim another victory.
Croatia to beat Greece.
Peterborough had earned just one point from five previous League One matches before surprisingly inflicting a 1-0 defeat upon Shrewsbury on home soil at the end of last month. However, the Posh could only draw 1-1 with Tranmere in an FA Cup tie and they have failed to win any of their last five league games on the road. A visit to AFC Wimbledon now awaits with the hosts producing some inconsistent form in recent weeks. Two wins and three defeats were incurred in league action last month but they did beat FA Cup giant-killers from last season Lincoln 1-0 on home turf last weekend. The Dons could take advantage of the poor Posh away form by winning this match.
AFC Wimbledon to beat Peterborough.
Both Congo and Uganda have failed to qualify for the World Cup with the former earning just one point from five previous group matches when drawing 1-1 in Ghana. However, Congo were denied a point when Egypt netted a 95th minute penalty to claim a 2-1win last month. Visitors Uganda have conceded just once during their five-match campaign to date but they have also failed to score more than once in any game. With just pride at stake, expect a low-scoring contest and a draw is a possibility.
Congo to draw with Uganda.
Egypt have already qualified for the 2018 World Cup from African CAF Group E, but Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is among several missing influential players from this match and their motivation for this game must be questioned. Hosts Ghana have Atletico Madrid striker Thomas Partey unavailable due to suspension but coach Kwasi Appiah insists that he wants to win this game despite the Ghanaians failing to qualify for Russia. They have lost just one group game when beaten 2-0 by Egypt in Alexandria but two home draws have proved costly. However, Ghana will hope to gain revenge against the Egyptians on home turf and could seal victory.
Ghana to beat Egypt.
