Pebble Beach Pro Am Tips 2021 – Four Each-Way Bets this Week
The PGA Tour heads back to California this week for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The field is the weakest we’ve had for a little while on the PGA Tour with Patrick Cantlay heading the market at 7/1.
The tournament will be played at Pebble Beach for three rounds and Spyglass Hill for the other. No amateurs are playing this year in line with Covid-19 which will make it a better watch for golf fanatics.
Max Homa 35/1 (8 places at William Hill)
My first selection this week is MAX HOMA 35/1 EW. Homa has some strong form on this layout with a Tied 10th in 2019 followed up by a Tied 14th last year. He lives here in California so it’s a bit of a home game for him here and this return to POA greens will suit him down to the ground. He’s been hitting the ball as well as ever recently and that is backed up by some strong results to start 2021. This tough test will suit him and a bold bid is expected.
Kevin Streelman 35/1 (8 places at William Hill)
My next selection is KEVIN STREELMAN 35/1 EW. Streelman is a serious horses for courses bet here. He finished a gutsy second here last year but that was his third consecutive top 10 finish in this event which shows how much he loves Pebble Beach. He finished in a tie for 22nd last week in Phoenix and that should set him up for a big week here back at one of his favourite venues.
Alex Noren 50/1 (8 places at Betfred)
My next selection is ALEX NOREN 50/1 EW. Noren has shown glimpses of the class we expect from his recently and I believe it’s only a matter of time until he puts it all together. Two weeks ago he opened with an opening 64 at Torrey Pines but struggled to keep it going for the remaining three rounds. However, I believe there was positives to take from that effort in what was back to back top 40s which suggests he’s slowly trending in the right direction. It is going to be a chilly week with plenty of wind in the forecast. I believe this will suit the gritty Noren as a lot of his best form on the European Tour was under similar conditions. An example would be when he dominated the Scottish Open back in 2018. Good e/w bet this week.
Matthew Nesmith 66/1 (8 places at Betfred)
My final selection is MATTHEW NESMITH 66/1 EW. Nesmith is an unknown to many casual golf fans but he is trending in the right direction and I believe a maiden PGA Tour victory is in his near future. He shot a 63 to open up last week on his way to a tie for 7th. A treble bogey on his final hole of Round 2 was a real kick in the teeth for him and he bounced back well on the weekend. He will have been very pleased with how he bounced back and I’m sure it would have gave him a lot of confidence going forward. He finished Tied 11th here last year and I think he can improve on that this year.
