Epsom races betting tips

It’s Epsom Oaks day on Friday and ITV Racing is covering the meeting with five live races, concluding with the second classic of the season at 4.30pm.

Our tipster Henry has been through the five races and picked his betting tip for each of them including a NAP, NB and each-way shout.

2:00 Epsom

The opener on Oaks Day is the Woodcote Stakes, a 6f contest for the 2 year-olds.

My selection here is KEEP BIDDING (11/2) NB. The daughter of Ribchester made a really encouraging debut at Nottingham finishing a good second despite being weak in the market. She did look very green that day and looked like she’d come on remarkably for that debut effort. Beckett’s horses are now creeping into form and he has a good record here with his runners at Epsom. The selection has a nice draw in stall 4 and I think she can go close.

2:35 Epsom

The 2:35 race is next up and it is our first of two handicaps on ITV. This race is over an extended mile.

I like REVICH (10/1) NAP here for the Richard Spencer stable. A winner here at Epsom on his only start here, he also has a great record round Chester which can be classed as a similar test given the constantly on the turn nature. He has a great record in mile handicaps and has only finished out the frame once. That was earlier in the season in the Thirsk Hunt Cup but he was unlucky that day and wasn’t beaten far at all. He has a nice draw in stall 6 and looks certain to run his race.

3:10 Epsom

The first Group 1 comes up at 3:10 and it is the Coronation Cup, a Group 1 over 1m4f for the elders.

I’ll chance HUKUM (5/1) here. There is likely to be a lot of pace on here and that’ll suit HUKUM. He likes to sit off the pace and with the added bonus of being proven over further, I think this will be run to suit. He goes well fresh so the break is no concern and in a race where the front of the market have several questions to answer, I think he’s worth a small win only play here.

3:45 Epsom

The second handicap comes up at 3:45 and it is the Cazoo Handicap over 1m2f.

I’ve landed on LOVE IS GOLDEN (10/1) EW here for the Johnston operation. I think this track will suit him well, like most Johnston horses, he likes to bowl along in front and Epsom can often suit front runners. He was a good third at York last time out in a similar race and I think he can go close again here. The fast ground will suit him well.

4:30 Epsom

The finale is the feature of the days, the Cazoo Oaks, a Group 1 for the 3 year-old fillies over 1m4f.

I like NASHWA (4/1) here. I was really impressed with both her victories on her last two starts at Haydock and Newbury where she displayed a really useful turn of foot to win going away on both occasions. I think she’s been as equally impressive as favourite Emily Upjohn so I think she has to be the play at x4 the price. Hollie Doyle maintains the partnership and obviously gets on well with the selection. I think this 1m4f trip could bring out further improvement and she is the obvious danger to the favourite.
