Glorious Goodwood Day 2 Betting Tips – Preview and Tip for Each Race on Wednesday

Glorious Goodwood tips 2021

Tuesday left us with a race for the ages as Kyprios beat Stradivarius in a thrilling Goodwood Cup and now we move onto Wednesday’s Glorious Goodwood tips where the feature race is the Sussex Stakes.

That race should be a procession for superstar Baaeed but it won’t be a race for the punters so Henry is back with six more Goodwood tips for the day 2 action.

You can get £40 in free bets when you open a new Paddy Power account to bet on Goodwood this week.

1:50 Goodwood

The opener on Day 2 of the Glorious Goodwood Festival is a 1m4f handicap for 3 year-olds.

I like SOULCOMBE (9/2) here for the William Haggas team. He had three average runs to start his career before improving for a step into handicap company to win off a lenient mark of 68 at Newmarket last month. He backed that up winning again at Ascot last time out despite being slowly away and I see no reason why he can’t continue on this steep upward curve and winning this off a 7lb higher mark than last time. He has a lovely racing weight of 8’4 today and jockey Ciaron Fallon has a great record here at Goodwood.

2:25 Goodwood

The 2:25 is the Whispering Angel Oak Tree Stakes, a Group 3 for fillies and mares over 7f.

I’ll chance the French horse here SAMAHRAM (10/1). She’s only had three career starts to date with a debut win followed by a close 2nd. She then stepped into listed company at Longchamp on just her third start and won that. The French have a decent record in this contest and it has to be of interest that Frankie takes the ride on her today. She’s a decent each-way price here too so she’s my selection in this tricky race.

3:00 Goodwood

Next up, we have the Molecombe Stakes, a Group 3 for the 2 year-old speedsters over 5f.

I really like ROCKET RODNEY (11/10) NAP here. I think he is one of the best 2 year-old sprinters in this side of the shores. He was unlucky not to win at Royal Ascot when just touched off by Little Big Bear who could be Aiden O’Brien’s 2000 Guineas horse for next season. He backed that up with an easy victory last time out at Sandown and there is nothing in this field that strikes me as the type to improve past him.

3:35 Goodwood

The feature on Day 2 is the Group 1 Sussex Stakes over the mile.

Not a rest that appeals from a betting perspective. Just a case of enjoying Baaeed strutting his stuff. He should hose up against no real competition.

I think MODERN GAMES (4/1) (without fav) can chase him home. A Group 1 winner in France on his seasonal return, things haven’t worked out as planned over there on his last two starts. I think he’ll enjoy this return to better ground back on home shores and I just think he may be the value in this market.

4:10 Goodwood

The 4:10 is a decent fillies handicap over 1m2f with plenty of potential improvers in the line-up.

The one for me here is PERIPATETIC (13/2) NB here. One of the more unexposed sorts in this line-up I’m convinced we haven’t seen the best of her yet. She’s bred to be very good and her two 2 year-olds runs where full of promise, beaten just a short head on debut before following up to win at Newcastle. Her two runs this season haven’t quite gone to plan but I’m convinced she’s a much better horse than a mark of 86. I’m hopeful she can take a chunky step forward in this. I think she’ll be well suited by the stronger gallop she should get today and she will be able to get plenty of cover.

4:45 Goodwood

The final race live on ITV is a trappy 5f contest for the 2 year-old fillies.

I’ll chance BEAUTIFUL EYES (8/1) EW here for the Charlie and Mark Johnston duo. The team has a decent winner here yesterday and I’m happy to draw a line through his effort at Ascot last time out. I think this speedier 5f trip will suit a lot more and she will be able to just jump out and go. She certainly won’t lack for speed and should be able to get to the front out the stalls. Her form prior to Ascot reads well and it wouldn’t be the first time a Johnston horse bounces back after a below par effort.
