Horse Racing Tips: Four Picks from Around the Tracks on Thursday
There’s plenty of Jumps action on Thursday, plus a ‘twilight’ card at Chelmsford for Flat racing fans.
We’ve highlighted our best bets at all four meetings, including a progressive 11/4 chance at Wincanton, who looks exceptional value for money.

Dubai Guest has only had three starts over fences, but took his form to a new level when winning comfortably at Fakenham last time and may be capable of following up. It would be fair to say that the Fakeham race ‘fell apart’ to some extent, but the runner-up, Barn Or Bill, had won a similar race on his previous start. An 8lb rise in the weights demands further progress, but that’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
Selection: Dubai Guest (11/8 with William Hill)
Wincanton: 2:45 Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese Handicap Hurdle 1m7f
Tulin is 3lb higher in the weights than when narrowly beaten by Mack The Man in a similar race at Exeter earlier this month, but that form looks plenty strong enough and he may be able to open his account for the season in first-time cheekpieces. Paul Nicholls’ 4-year-old is just 3lb worse off for the 9 lengths he finished ahead of Fanfan Du Seuil at Exeter and retains scope for further improvement.
Selection: Tulin (11/4 with William Hill)
Leicester: 2:07 Nucleus HR Handicap Hurdle 2m4f110y
Beau Haze has run respectably on both starts so far this season and is now 1lb lower in the weights than winning a similar race at Ffos Las in May, so must have a decent chance. Interestingly, Peterston-Super-Ely trainer Philip Dando has only ever saddled three runners at Leicester, but two of them won and the other finished second.
Selection: Beau Haze (7/1 with William Hill)
Chelmsford: 6:30 Book Tickets Online At chelmsfordcityracecourse.com Handicap 5f
Sirrodneyredblood arrives at the top of his game, in search of a course and distance hat-trick, but may be vulnerable under a 5lb penalty. He is 10lb worse off for 2 lengths with Expert Opinion on their running over course and distance in October, which must give the latter every chance of reversing the form. Expert Opinion subsequently proved no match for Fauvette over 6 furlongs on this course, but the drop back to the minimum trip in his favour.
Selection: Expert Opinion (7/2 with Bet365)
