ITV Racing Tips – Saturday’s Race by Race Selections on Betfair Chase Day

ITV Racing tips

The feature race of the day this week is the Betfair Chase from Haydock and that clash features in our ITV Racing tips for Saturday 21st November.

Haydock’s 1.50pm starts off the ITV racing and there are a total of four races from the North West track. The Betfair Chase takes place at 3.00pm and Lostintranslation is the current 6/4 favourite with bet365. Bristol De Mai has a fantastic record at Haydock and will be a popular choice at 9/4.

The other races come from Ascot including two Grade Two races where Laurina is back in action at 2.40pm.

See our preview of the eight races below including a NAP and NB from the racing, which it live on ITV this Saturday.

  • 3.17pm Ascot

  • 3.50pm Haydock

1:50pm Haydock

The first race from ITV comes from Haydock and it’s a handicap hurdle over 2m3f.

The one I like here is KID COMMANDO 9/2 NAP. I’m sure regular readers will know this is a horse I think a lot of and I have previously advised him as a horse to follow this season. He won well on seasonal debut over 2m at Ascot and I think this step upto 2m3f will bring out more improvement. The soft ground will be fine as he’s won on it twice and I think he’s better than a handicapper.

2:05pm Ascot

The 2:05 from Ascot is next and it is an intriguing 4 runner race where you wouldn’t be surprised if any of the four runners went on to win.

However, the one for me in IMPERIAL AURA 7/4. Imperial Aura is another horse I really like and I think it’ll be a contender for the Ryanair Chase come March 2021. He won at Cheltenham last year beaten Galvin by 3l before making his seasonal debut at Carlisle in a listed race last month. He jumped like a stag that day and I think a similar performance would be good enough to take this.

2:25pm Haydock

Next up, is a very compatible handicap hurdle from Haydock which will be a slog for all runners given the conditions.

The one for me is COLLOONEY 9/1 EW for the Olly Murphy team. This horse has always been highly thought of and he really impressed at Fontwell in October. He won well that day despite not getting a clear run at a crucial stage. The form reads well with the third since winning at Ascot and the 4th running a big race at Cheltenham on his next start. The heavy ground will cause no issues and he has a lovely racing weight here.

2:40pm Ascot

Only 3 runners line up for the Coral Hurdle which is disappointing. Call Me Lord heads the market but he’s not for me after a poor comeback run at Aintree.

I’m happy to back the outsider of the three here, SONG FOR SOMEONE 3/1 NB. This horse appears to have gone under the radar slightly. He jumps slick and fluently every time and he’s ultra-consistent. He relishes soft ground and always seems to run his best races after a break so the 275 days off the track won’t cause any problem. I expect Nico to make the running and I believe he’ll prove tough to get past.

3.00pm Haydock

The Betfair Chase is up next and only five runners line up. I believe you can rule out the two outsiders and third favourite Clan Des Obeaux always tends to improve for his seasonal debut.

I like LOSTINTRANSLATION 6/4 here. He ran a huge race in the Gold Cup despite the Tizzard horses running below par all week and he did win this race well last year. I think he is still progressing where as market principle Bristol De Mai may be regressing now he’s getting on a bit. I think the selection has the class edge.

3:17pm Ascot

The 3:17 race from Ascot sees Magic Saint head the market as he bids to follow up a good win at Cheltenham last week. This is a quick turnaround and I’m happy to look elsewhere at the prices.

The one for me is DRUMCONNOR LAD 15/2 EW. This horse ran on October 31st at Ayr and he was really impressive, powering clear and winning comfortably. He has only been raised 5lb for that and I expected more. Kevin Brogan takes 7lb off and he is definitely value for it.

3:35pm Haydock

The 3:35 at Haydock will finish in slow motion and it is a great betting race for punters with the favourite being around the 13/2 mark.

The one I like is ALNIMAR 11/1 EW. This horse ran well on his comeback run at Cheltenham finishing third staying on well for pressure. He has since had a wind operation which is interesting and he won his previous heavy ground start in January which bodes well for this. He sneaks in a low weight of 10’9 and trainer Nigel Hawke has a decent strike rate at the track.
