ITV Racing Tips for Saturday’s Meetings at Cheltenham and Doncaster

We’re back to Cheltenham for more live ITV Racing this Saturday and Henry has got his betting tips from there and Doncaster for Saturday 12th December.

The big race of the day sees Goshen back over hurdles in the International Hurdle and there are also three races from Doncaster, including two Grade 2 races.

1:50 Cheltenham 

The 1:50 race is a great renewal of the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup. A handicap Chase over the 2m4f distance.

I like MASTER TOMMYTUCKER NAP here. He is a really classy horse that is no doubt better than handicap class of his concentration holds up. His concentration has really improved on his last two starts which he’s jumped as well as ever and seemed to really enjoy himself. This is a real test but I’m hoping Cobden can get him to the front and set the fractions. Front runners have a great record over this course and distance so his ideal tactics should suit.

 

2:05 Doncaster

We head to Doncaster for our next race and it a race for novice chases over just shy of 3m.

I’ve landed on HOUSE ISLAND here as I think he rates a better value than the odds on jolly. He won like a good horse last time out and trainer Paul Webber is in rude form at the moment. He’ll have no issues with the ground and the track should suit the horse well.

 

2:25 Cheltenham

The next from Cheltenham is the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle over just shy of 3m. It’ll be a slog on the winter ground and a strong stayer is essential. Danny Kirwan has too much speed for a race like this in my opinion so I’m happy to take him on albeit I think he is a talented horse.

The one I like is one of the outsiders and that is TOOK THE LOT. This horse has really impressed me on his last two starts at Bangor where’s he’s travelled well before staying on strongly all the way to the line suggesting he will relish this type of test. That was on soft ground so today will hold no fears and I think he has scope for further improvement. Father and son combination of Sam and Nigel Twiston-Davies can team up for a decent winner.

 

2:40 Doncaster 

The second race from Doncaster on ITV is a race for the juvenile hurdlers. We’ve soon some decent winners of this contest in the past so hopefully we get to see another impressive winner here.

I think MONMIRAL will win this and win this well. He won in the manor of a very good horse last time out at Exeter and trainer Paul Nicholls has a great record with juveniles over recent years. I think he has another good one on his hands here and he can improve again to win this before moving onto bigger targets over the Spring.

 

3:00 Cheltenham

The feature comes at 3pm and it’s the International Hurdle over 2m. We finally get to see the return of Goshen over hurdles and he’s a fair price given the quality of the field.

The horse I like here is SONG FOR SOMEONE. Song for Someone won well for us on his last start when beating Call Me Lord and Laurina and I’m happy to stick with him again here given the prices. He jumps fluently and he’s slick over his hurdles which is exactly what you want over 2m. I think he may get a nice lead again here and he’ll again prove tough to pass. He has to be a e/w shot to nothing on his preferred ground.

 

3:15 Doncaster

The final race from Doncaster on ITV is a handicap chase over just shy of 3m. It’s a wide open betting heat and a good race for punters to get stuck into.

I do like BOLDMERE NB here for the Caroline Bailey team. He is a horse that tends to improve for his racing and his first two runs this season have been fairly encouraging. He’s finished fourth on both occasions in decent little races and he now returns to a course he’s won at before. I think Paddy Brennan is a jockey that will be well suited to Boldmere and he’s the one for me here.

 

3:35 Cheltenham

The finale from Cheltenham on ITV comes at 3:35 and it is a mares handicap hurdle over 2m4f.

I think THE WHITE MOUSE can go in again here after an eye-catching victory last time out. She won going away that day and she looked like a real improver over long distances. She has a lovely racing weight of 10’5 for this and Bryony Frost can have another Saturday winner here.
