ITV Racing Tips for Sandown, Chester and Beverley this Saturday

1:30 Beverley
The 1:30 from Beverley gets proceedings underway on ITV and it is the Silver Cup handicap over 1m4f.
It’s WALTER HARTWRIGHT (11/4) I like in this. The 3 year-old has been a revelation this year winning four of his eight starts. He’s ran three times here at the track and won two of them so we know Beverley suits him well. He gets plenty of age for weight allowance off his rivals here and I still think a mark of 87 underestimates him. He ran well enough at Chepstow when we last seen him finishing a good second and now returning to Beverley, I’m hoping for another career best effort.
1:50 Sandown
The first of four live races from Sandown comes up at 1:50 and it is a 7f handicap.
It is LYNDON B (11/2) NB for me here who looks handicapped to go well off a mark of 80. The quicker the ground the better for him and he should get that rattling fast ground he relishes here today at Sandown. A previous winner here at Sandown proving he enjoys the track I’m confident of a bold showing. He was an unlucky second when we last seen him staying on strongly after meeting trouble in running. Compensation awaits today.
2:05 Beverley
The 2:05 from Beverley is the Beverley Bullet Sprint over 5 furlongs.
It’s COMMANCHE FALLS (4/1) for me here. He returned right back to form when finishing third in a competitive York handicap last week suggesting his turn may by near to get his head back in front. Connections put first-time blinkers in there which seemed to help and I’m hoping it can have the same effect here. He is a quirky character who should be well-suited by this test. He likes to bounce out and make all and that is no bad thing here at Beverley. From stall 4, he’ll be able to get a nice position and hopefully go close.
2:25 Sandown
It’s back to Sandown for the 2:25. This is the Atalanta Stakes, a Group 3 for the fillies and mares over the mile.
It is TAMFANA (11/10) for me here. The 3 year-old looks a cut above her rivals here and with Oisin Murphy booked, I’d be shocked if she doesn’t land this. She has been running well in Group 1 races throughout this season and many people would argue she should have won the 1000 Guineas back in May. The drop back to a mile is therefore no concern and I’d expect her to take advantage of this drop in class and get back in the winners enclosure.
2:40 Chester
The 2:40 from Chester is a very competitive 7f handicap.
The horse I like is YANIFER (13/2). I like that he’s a prominent racer here that has a lovely draw in stall 6. He should be able to gain a nice early position if breaking well. A lot of his rivals like to be held up and there is going to be plenty of hard luck stories in behind here. Yanifer was a good winner over this course and distance last time out and up 4lb, I’m hopeful of another bold bid today.
3:00 Sandown
The 3:00 from Sandown is a 1m2f handicap contest.
I think SEAN (4/1) NAP looks set to run a big race here. He’s back in fine form this season for the Osbourne’s and his effort last time out at Windsor suggests he’s more than capable off a current mark of 108. He finished third there in a competitive handicap and was unlucky to not finish closer. This looks a weaker race to me and I’d be disappointed if he’s not going very close at least.
3:15 Chester
The 3:15 from Chester is the Chester Stakes, a listed race over the extended 1m6f.
It’s ABSURDE (9/4) for me here for the Willie Mullins stable. A very smart horse on both the flat and the jumps as proven by wins of the Ebor last year and the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this year. He had a nice break and made his reappearance for the season at the Curragh two weeks ago. That was just a run to blow the cobwebs off and I’d expect a big chunk of improvement here with that run under his belt. Similar to Vauban, he’s been aimed at the Melbourne Cup and we seen him run his best race of the year when winning at York last week. I’m hoping similar awaits for Absurde here before they both head down under.
3:35 Sandown
The 3:35 from Sandown is the Solario Stakes, a Group 3 for the 2 year-olds over 7f.
I like FIELD OF GOLD (13/8) here. It hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for the Gosden’s but they usually finish the season strongly and I can see that starting here. A race they often target a decent 2 year-old at, Field Of Gold looks just that. He was an encouraging third on debut before coming on bundles for that to win impressively over this trip at Newbury. The Kingman colt brings the best form to the race and is open to plenty of improvement. Tough to beat in my opinion.
