ITV Racing Tips for Saturday 26th February from Kempton, Lingfield and Newcastle

ITV Racing Tips

This weekend’s ITV Racing comes from three meetings across the UK and includes the Winter Derby on the All-weather at Lingfield.

Henry has gone through all eight races and picked out his betting tip for each along with a preview of the races. With the Cheltenham Festival just a couple of weeks away now is also a good time to have a look at our Cheltenham Festival lucky 15 tip and race by race previews as they arrive.

1:15 Kempton

The 1:15 race from Kempton is a tricky handicap chase over the intermediate 2m4f distance.

The one I like in the opener is DEYRANN DE CARJAC NB here. The Alan King team are in great form recently and this lad looks well off this current mark. He’s been running well on soft ground around Cheltenham but this quicker ground and flatter track is definitely a bonus. Expect him to go very close.

1:30 Lingfield

The first race from Lingfield is a listed contest for the sprinters over 5f called the Hever Sprint Stakes.

My selection is TONE THE BARONE. The fastest horse in the race, I think he’ll get a soft lead and hopefully the closers don’t come in time. Stuart Williams excels with his sprinters and hopefully he can have a winner here.

1:50 Kempton

Next up from Kempton is the Adonis Hurdle, a Grade 2 contest over 2m for the juveniles.

I expect KNIGHT SALUTE NAP to win this and remain unbeaten. He has won all four career starts and shown guts to beat Porticello and Impulsive One last time out. He has been working well according to trainer Milton Harris who continues in fine form and 2/1 is fair in my opinion.

2:05 Lingfield

Our second flat race on ITV comes at 2:05 and it is a decent renewal of the Group 3 Winter Derby over 1m2f.

My selection here is LORD NORTH. He is easily the best horse in the race and is a world class operator. As long as he runs to form, he’ll win this. He should get a decent gallop to aim at and as long as Havlin doesn’t do anything stupid, I expect him to win well.

2:25 Kempton

The 2:25 race is the Grade 2 Pendil Novices Chase, a Grade 2 race over the 2m4f trip.

I like FANTASTIC LADY here for the Henderson team. She is a big scopey sort who has relished the fences this season. She continues to improve with each run and I think this trip suits her more than it does the market leaders.

3:00 Kempton

The 3:00 from Kempton is the Dovecote Novices Hurdle, another Grade 2 over the 2m trip.

I think SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE will be too good for this lot. The Moore horse has shown a lot of talent but looked in need of the experience earlier this season. He seemed to put it all together last time out when powering clear at Sandown and I think that will have done his confidence the world of good. I don’t think he’s finished improving yet and I think he’s the best of this lot in what is a weak Grade 2.

3:15 Newcastle

We head to Newcastle for one race today and it’s for the famous Eider Chase, an extreme test of stamina over 4m1f.

My selection here is RATH AN IUIR EW at a nice each way price. The Rose Dobbin team are in good form at the moment and the selection is one of the least exposed horses in this line-up. He’s ran well in two visits to this track with a win and a second and I’m happy to draw a line through his last effort because it was too bad to be true. He’s had a nice break since and hopefully he can resume his progression and run well here.

3:37 Kempton

The finale on ITV is the competitive renewal of the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase ran over 3m.

The one for me here is ZHUGULI EW near the bottom of the weights. I was really impressed with his victory at Lingfield last time out when he powered clear to win easily. The form has been given several boosts since and I think this is still plenty of scope off this current mark. If his jumping holds up well, I can’t see him being out the frame. He has a loving racing weight of 10’9 and he’s improving rapidy.
