ITV Racing Tips for Saturday 3rd December from Aintree and Sandown

ITV Racing Tips

1:30 Aintree

The opener on a great day of racing action is the Grade 2 Many Clouds Chase at Aintree.

I think AHOY SENOR (11/8) can resume winning ways here after a poor display last time out in the Charlie Hall Chase. He has previously been able to bounce back from a poor display and win on his next start as he did at Wetherby last February after a disappointing effort on Boxing Day. He returns to Aintree where he has put up his two career best performances over hurdles and fences. This left handed flat track is obviously right up his street and if he returns to anything like his best, he’ll be winning this.

1:45 Sandown

The first race from Sandown is the Grade 1 Henry VII Novice Chase over 2 miles.

With the doubts over whether Jonbon lines up it’s hard to form an opinion on this race. If he does, I’d like UNEXPECTED PARTY (BETTING WITHOUT JONBON)5/2 as he will be held up ridden to come with a late run I presume. Boothill will likely be ridden to try and serve it up to Jonbon and may well tire late on. Unexpected Party has plenty of talent and ran a similar race behind McFabulous last time out.

2:05 Aintree

It’s over the National fences next as we have the Becher Handicap Chase over the extended 3m1f trip.

The one for me here is ASHTOWN LAD (11/2). He had a lovely pipe opener here over hurdles last time out in a race that has been boosted since with both Remastered and Gericaught Roque running crackers in the Hennessy. This trip looks ideal for him and I think these National fences could bring the best out of him. He makes his handicap debut off 138 and he has scope to improve beyond that mark. This seems like it’s been a target and Skelton always tends to go close at least when he aims one of his at one.

2:20 Sandown

The 2:20 race is a decent handicap hurdle over the 2m trip.

The one I like in this is HERMES BOY (15/2) EW. The Jane Williams stable have his form of late and this lad is only carrying 10’4 racing running off a mark of 119 here. A consistent sort last season who ran well on near enough all of his starts, he’s a had pipe opener at Worcester last month to hopefully get him fully tuned up for this. He’s only five so I’d expect further improvement this season and the quickish ground here will suit him well.

2:40 Aintree

The 2:40 from Aintree is a competitive handicap chase over 2m4f.

I like GUNSIGHT RIDGE (7/1) EW here for the Olly Murphy yard. I think he’s one of the least unexposed sorts in this race and I was taken by his victory last time out here at Aintree. That was over 2 miles but he won going away that day and I think this trip could suit him even better now he is starting to settle better during his races. He likes to sit prominent and if he can get into a nice rhythm he can see his opposition off one by one.

2:55 Sandown

The feature comes up at 2:55 and it is of course the Grade 1 Betfair Tingle Creek over 2m.

A race that is obviously going to depend on who turns up. I think EDWARDSTONE (13/2) is the one if they all turn up. The Arkle winner looks underrated in the market to be fair. He was a real improving chaser last season and could arguably improve further despite his age as he enters open company. He has ran well here before and he’s a strong travelling sort that finds plenty for pressure. Shishkin has questions to answer and we know what Graenateen is so I’m happy to leave them alone at the prices.

3:15 Aintree

The final race from Aintree is another competitive 2m4f handicap, this time over hurdles.

It’s HARBOUR LAKE (6/1) EW here for me. He ran a decent race last time out in the competitive Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham. He was just outpaced over that 2 mile trip there and this step up to 2m4f looks spot on for him and could prove to be his optimum. He’s a solid each-way selection given his form in a wide open race.

3:30 Sandown

The final race comes up at 3:30 and it is the marathon that is the London National Handicap Chase over an extended 3m4f.

I’ve landed on ECLAIR DE GUYE (13/2) EW here. A solid horse that is well suited by races of this nature and the booking of Harry Cobden is certainly an eye-catching one. He races off a lovely racing weight of 10’4 in this and he’ll do for me to end proceedings at a nice price.
