ITV Racing Tips – Saturday’s Betting Tips from Glorious Goodwood and Newmarket

Glorious Goodwood tips 2021

The final day of Glorious Goodwood 2022 throws up six more live races on ITV Racing and we’ve also got two races from Newmarket on a busy day.

The Stewards’ Cup is the big betting race of the day and the Lille Langtry provides the group action. The coverage gets underway with the 1.05pm race Henry has picked his betting tips for each ITV race.

You can also get £40 in free bets to spend on our Goodwood tips when you open a new Paddy Power account to bet today.

1:05 Goodwood

First up on ITV is is a Maiden Stakes contest over 7f for the 2 year-old colts and geldings.

I like CLASSIC (10/11) here. He made a really eye-catching debut at Newbury getting the hang of things late on to stay on strongly beaten just over a length in 4th by another horse who looks promising. With that experience under his belt, coming from the Hannon stable, I think he’ll improve past his rivals here.

1:40 Goodwood

The 1:40 race is the Coral Stewards Sprint Handicap over the 6f trip.

It’s LETHAL LEVI (7/4) for me here. He’s really progressing through the ranks well and I think he would have went well in the Stewards Cup itself, never mind this consolation race. He’s relished the quick surface winning his last two starts well and he can complete the hat-trick here. Trainer Karl Burke is having a good week and I don’t think this is the deepest of contests. I think he’s still on the upgrade while a lot of his rivals are on the downgrade. I expect he will be tough to beat in this.

1:55 Newmarket

The first race from Newmarket is a fillies nursery handicap over 6f.

The one for me here is IMMORTAL BEAUTY (4/1). Another Hannon 2-year old who I thought was very unlucky last time out. Short of room at a crucial stage, she was very unlucky to go down by a head as there is no doubt with a clear run she would have won. I think this stiff final furlong Newmarket has to offer will play to her strengths and if she gets the breaks this time, I think she’ll be staying on the strongest and can get up close to home.

2:10 Goodwood

The 2:10 from Goodwood is the Coral Summer Handicap over 1m6f.

The one for me here is CEMHAAN (8/1) NAP. A good winner at Salisbury three starts back, he then relished the step up to 1m6f on his next start at Newmarket where he shown a potent turn of foot to win well. Things didn’t go to plan at Ascot last time out but he finished 7th from 18 in a competitive handicap. He’ll get plenty of cover here and the long straight at Goodwood will suit his hold up style. I think Hollie Doyle will challenge wide and I expect him to come last and hit the frame at least.

2:25 Newmarket

The second and final race from Newmarket is another for the fillies and mares, the listed  Chalice Stakes over 1m4f.

I’ll chance the unexposed STAR FORTRESS (9/2) NB here. She’s only had two career runs to date which was a debut second followed up by an easy win at Chelmsford on her second start. Ralph Beckett has an excellent strike rate at the moment and we all know he excels with the fillies. Rossa Ryan in the saddle, I think she’s worth chancing to improve again and take this.

2:45 Goodwood

It’s Group 2 action up next as we have the Lillie Langtry Stakes for fillies and mares over 1m6f.

I’m going to chance VIOLA (14/1) EW here at a decent price. I thought she was unlucky not to beat the favourite Sea La Rosa two starts back at Newbury where she was a bit short of room close to home. Despite that, she finished a good second staying on through the line. I’m happy to ignore an average 3rd placed effort last time out as she likes to come from off a strong pace. She didn’t get that last time out. I think she’ll get that today and again, she has the long Goodwood straight to get going. Another one who I expect to hit the frame at least at decent price. Daniel Muscutt is in the form of his life this season and has already had a winner this week.

3:20 Goodwood

The big betting race of the week is the Stewards Cup over the 6f trip.

I’m going to take a flyer at ABOVE (50/1) EW here. He went close on a similar contest three starts back at Newmarket off a mark of 93 where he stayed on strongly to finish second. He disappointed at Ascot and then the race at Chelmsford last time out wouldn’t have been his cup of tea. He now returns back to that same mark of 93 and this strong traveller who can take a hold will be well suited by this out and out sprint. Hopefully he can hit the frame at least at a huge price.

3:55 Goodwood

The final race from Goodwood is a 7f handicap.

The one for me is GALIAC (7/1). A consistent sort who rallied well to finish third last time out at Sandown to finish third after being hampered in the straight. He remains off the same mark today and he returns to where he arguably put up a career-best performance when winning a similar handicap to this here at Goodwood in May. Course form is always a plus around here and I think he’s a fair price.
