Middlesbrough vs Arsenal predictions and football betting tips for the Monday Night Football on Easter Sunday. See our betting preview and tips below.
Middlesbrough face Arsenal in this week’s instalment of Monday Night Football at the Riverside stadium. Here are three tips and predictions for the big game. Middlesbrough are in danger of going down without a fight as they are yet to win a league match in 2017 and this has left them six points adrift in 19th place. The 0-0 draw against Burnley last week was a huge disappointment as that was a match that they needed to win considering the difficult run-in that they have. Steve Agnew has taken over and has tried to make Boro play a more expansive side of football but it hasn’t worked so far and they desperately need a win on Monday night which could mean for an entertaining game (for once) at the Riverside.
It looks increasingly likely that Arsenal are going to miss out on Champions League football for the first time in twenty years as they are currently in sixth position and are trailing 4th place Manchester City by seven points which is a big gap at this stage of the season. They were awful last week against Crystal Palace and it does seem as if the players have stopped trying for Arsene Wenger and when that happens then there is only one outcome; the manager will leave. I think the majority of football feel like Arsenal need a change and for Arsenal’s sake I hope it does come at the end of this season.
My first Middlesbrough vs Arsenal betting tip is going to be for Arsenal to score 3+ goals. This might come as a surprise considering they have been in poor form away from home recently but with Middlesbrough needing the three points I can see them pushing more players forward than what we’ve seen this season and this will leave spaces for Arsenal to exploit. The gunners have scored 3 or more times in six away matches in the Premier League this season and I expect a seventh to come here. Sky Bet are offering 15/8 for this to happen.

My second Middlesbrough vs Arsenal prediction is going to be for Arsenal to win and both teams to score. I have already mentioned that I think Arsenal will grab a few goals and this will be enough to win the match but I do think Middlesbrough will get on the score sheet. The fans will demand that they go for it considering they are staring down the face of relegation and they have scored recently against a good Manchester United defence. Arsenal have also conceded in their last four away league games so Arsenal to win and both teams to score looks a good bet to me at 11/5 with Bet365.

My third and final Middlesbrough vs Arsenal betting tip is going to be for Alvaro Negredo to score first for Middlesbrough. This just means Negredo has to net the first goal for Middlesbrough for the bet to be a winner. The ex-Manchester City striker has scored seven goals this season and without him I do think Boro would be down already. He looks the most likely threat to the away team and I expect him to grab Middlesbrough’s first (and possibly only) goal of the game. He is 3/1 with Bet365 to score Boro’s first goal.
Middlesbrough have doubts over Fabio, Gaston Ramirez and George Friend coming into this game but will hope that at least one of them is fit for the bench. Arsenal should have Laurent Koscielny and Petr Cech for this game which will be a massive boost for the Gunners and should make them more difficult to break down than last week against Crystal Palace.
These sides drew 0-0 at the Emirates earlier in the season but the same result here wouldn’t be any good for either manager. Arsenal haven’t won on their last four Premier League visits to the Riverside and this will give the home side some much needed encouragement before the game.
Arsenal are favourites for this game and are 4/7 for the win with Betfred. The draw is best priced 10/3 at Bet Victor and a Middlesbrough win is 11/2 with William Hill. Alexis Sanchez is favourite to open the scoring at 7/2 with Betway but an alternative option for a first goal scorer would be Theo Walcott who is 11/2 to open the scoring with Bet365.
Arsenal to score 3+ goals: 15/8 with Sky Bet.
Arsenal to win and both teams to score: 11/5 at Bet365.
