Our experts have pulled together a list of the best treadmills of the moment, comprised of innovative models from both established and up-and-coming fitness equipment manufacturers. With such a vast array of brands and models to choose from, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Fortunately, our team is here to provide shoppers with in-depth reviews with FitNexty Services and treadmill comparisons to make the research process a little easier.
Our experts examine the key specifications of each treadmill, from the motor (performance, quality, and speed), to the workout options, warranty, price range and beyond. We’ve broken down our complex analysis into a variety of categories to help you streamline your search, and give you the most relevant, up-to-date information to use when seeking out the right treadmill for you.
Why Buy a Treadmill?
Buying a treadmill means no more working out in a sweaty, crowded gym, or having to change in those funky-smelling locker rooms. No more dodging piles of dog waste on the sidewalk. And no more close-calls with drivers not paying attention while you’re out for a morning jog.
Plus, treadmills aren’t just a one-trick pony. You can switch up your workouts to include a variety of cardio that includes walking, jogging, sprinting and running. Commit to that combo and nothing will stop you from losing weight, improving your heart health, gaining muscles, and increasing your endurance!
Moreover, you can also talk on the phone, work on your PC or Laptop, and watch television while working out on the treadmill at home. As multitasking is possible with the treadmill, your exercise becomes more fun and appealing.
Are you getting pumped? Great! We’ve put together a list of the best treadmill available in 2020. But, before we break down each model, we’ll briefly go over the different types of treadmills to help you make an informed purchase decision.
I didn’t get the chance to personally test out the Peloton Tread treadmill, but fellow CNET editor Megan Wollerton praised it for being attractive, easy and fun to use. The design is undoubtedly premium: A 32-inch touch screen with a soundbar, slated belt design and the ability to switch the machine into a manual mode, where you move the belt by walking or running.
KETTLER SPORTS ARENA TREADMILL
The forerunner to this machine made up for its lack of speed with some amazing incline ability, but things have changed slightly in this update. Users can now crank up to a 12 percent climb, as opposed to the previous gen’s madcap 40 percent, but the top speed has been increased to 18kph, allowing for much better interval training workouts.
NordicTrack T 7.5 S
The NordicTrack and Proform machines I tested have nearly identical features because the brands are owned by the same company, ICON Health & Fitness. Both motorized incline treadmills have built-in 7-inch touch screens that let you use iFit, the company’s on-demand workout streaming service. iFit was by far my favorite feature on both machines. You can pick from more than 16,000 guided workouts, including over 1,000 that were shot outdoors on courses all over the world where you follow trainers as they walk or run. You also can choose to have the workout automatically change the settings on the treadmill to match the speed and incline set by the trainer. And of course, you can always override those settings at any time.
LIFE FITNESS T3 TREADMILL
A name that will be familiar to anyone who frequents the gym, Life Fitness produces top-quality equipment that can also be introduced to the home with minimum fuss. The standout feature on this model is the Track console, which easily connects to smartphones and tablets in order to harness the power of the excellent Life Fitness app. A powerful FlexDeck shock absorption system is said to reduce the impact on joints by 30 percent. It’s fairly expensive but you get what you pay for. Oh, and you’ll need a decent amount of room at home because this is, quite predictably, a big ol’ unit.
