Norwich vs Ipswich betting tips and predictions for the Championship derby this weekend where our football tipster has picked the best three bets for his match preview.
A huge derby between Norwich and Ipswich takes place on Sunday and we’ve got betting tips and predictions for the match.
The East Anglian derby is always a tremendous affair and it should be another cracker on Sunday lunchtime. Norwich are looking to bounce back from a defeat against Burton last weekend as they chase a play-off spot. The Canaries could do with Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds drawing on Saturday as they chase down 6th spot in the Championship. Alex Neil’s side have been much better in recent weeks and the pressure on the under-fire boss easing. At Carrow Road, they are unbeaten in four matches and picked up an impressive looking 2-2 draw with leaders Newcastle last time out.
The Canaries’ diabolical run throughout November and December could be their undoing when it comes to securing a play-off place although there are still plenty of matches remaining. One of Norwich’s problems this season have been playing on the road at smaller grounds and they suffered at the hands of Burton eight days ago. The improved Brewers made things difficult, got in the faces of the visitors and took home three points. They’ve beaten Nottingham Forest, Birmingham, Wolves and Derby here recently but derby matches can often be completely isolated and the formbook is so often thrown out of the window.
Ipswich were much improved last weekend as they drew 1-1 with Leeds at Portman Road. The crowd laid off manager Mick McCarthy and vocally supported the team throughout. McCarthy labelled it as ‘a lovely atmosphere’. There has been plenty of vitriol towards the boss after a disappointing season which has seen several below par performances and another season of mid-table mediocrity beckon.
The Tractor Boys were very impressive last week and can be considered unlucky to only take a point from that match. They dominated Leeds from start to finish and David McGoldrick & Freddie Sears were both excellent. They missed a number of chances and spurned a series of opportunities and should have secured all three points. Even without top scorer Tom Lawrence, it was a hugely encouraging performance and they’ll believe they can take something from this contest.
Norwich have been excellent at home this season, but Ipswich were much better last week. They held Brighton to a draw on the road recently and could take something from this game so a draw is our first Norwich vs Ipswich prediction at 11/4 with Sportingbet.
Neither side has particularly covered themselves in glory at the back this season. Norwich have kept just two clean sheets in seven home matches in all competitions and Ipswich have netted in their last three away contests so both teams to score is our second Norwich vs Ipswich prediction this weekend at Evens with William Hill.
Freddie Sears is a doubt for the visitors, but David McGoldrick looks set to continue in the side and should have scored last weekend. We’re putting our faith in him this weekend to complete our Norwich vs Ipswich betting tips with this anytime goalscorer bet at 4/1 with William Hill.
Norwich will be without Nelson Oliveira, who continues his recovery from a foot injury. Ivo Pinto and Stephen Naismith should come back for this game. Yousuff Mulumbu could also return after the midfielder resumed training.
Tom Lawrence is suspended for the second game after picking up 10 yellow cards this season. Freddie Sears will face a late fitness test ahead of this game whilst Luke Chambers is hoping to shake the illness which has seen him sidelined from training this week.
Ipswich don’t have a good recent record at Carrow Road and haven’t won since 2006. Norwich have won each of the last four here.
Overall, Norwich have won five of the last seven East Anglian derbies with the other two ending all square.
Norwich are the favourites for this match and start at around 3/4 for this derby match. Ipswich can be backed at around 9/2 for a surprise away victory. Norwich dominate the goalscoring market with Cameron Jerome the favourite at 13/10 anytime.
Draw – 11/4 with Sportingbet.
Both Teams to Score? Yes – Evens with William Hill.
David McGoldrick – Anytime Goalscorer – 4/1 with William Hill.
