Accrington vs Luton betting tips, predictions and match preview for this televised League One fixture on Saturday. Luton’s unbeaten record ended at the Valley last weekend, but they will be keen to get back on track this weekend in Lancashire. Accrington pulled themselves closer to safety with a vital win against Walsall, but their form has been patchy of late.
Despite being destined for Championship football next season, the Hatters have struggled on the road against better opposition, but they’ve been able to routinely put away sides in the bottom half. Stanley desperately needed three point last week, and with trips to Donny and Portsmouth in the offing, they cannot classify themselves as safe just yet.
There was a time at the start of the season when Accrington were incredibly hard to beat at home. They lost just one of their first seven games at the Wham Stadium, and even held high-flying Portsmouth to a 1-1 draw here. However, their recent form in Lancashire has been concerning, and they’ve been gradually getting sucked into the relegation mire.
Some of the division’s heavweights have been here, and picked up relatively simple wins including Barnsley and Sunderland, and I expect Luton to follow suit.
Luton have been scoring for fun recently, and they will be determined to bounce back from that defeat. They have netted in each half in three of their last five matches in League One. Goals in their matches are fairly evenly spread with 55% of their goals coming in the second half. Only eight of their matches have been goalless at the break this year.
I expect Luton to flying out of the blocks here, as they look to avenge last week’s loss. James Collins should be back in the side too, following his one-match suspension.
Our betting tip is Luton to Score in Both Halves and it is priced at 13/8 with Ladbrokes for Saturday’s game.
Match Betting Odds:
Accrington Win – 19/5
Draw – 3/1
Luton Win – 13/20
There are an inordinate amount of goalscorers who could get their names on the score-sheet in this current Luton side. James Collins returns to the side, Harry Cornick was back amongst the goals last week, and even full-back Jack Stacey has netted on the road this season. However, we’re going for midfielder Luke Berry, who has hit some form recently. He hasn’t netted in his last two outings, but he did score twice in a row at the end of March. He netted against Bristol Rovers and Doncaster Rovers, and may be able to repeat the trick here.
He gets into decent shooting positions, and is particularly handy when hovering around the edge of the box. He’s a midfielder who likes to pop up with an important goal or two, and he looks an attractive price at just over 4/1.
The third of our League One betting predictions for Saturday afternoon is Luke Berry to Score Anytime in this game, and he is priced at 17/4 with Betway
At the time of writing, this is a standout price and I expect it to be snapped up. The Hatters record against opposition in the bottom half is outstanding this season, and I don’t expect them to drop any points here. Peterborough, who sit 7th are the highest ranked side that they have been defeated by this season, and that came at the end of August. All five of their defeats have come against sides challenging for promotion or play-offs, and I think they’ll prove too good for Accy.
Coleman’s men took advantage of a fragile Walsall side at the weekend, with Ross Sykes proving the unlikely hero, and they will be buoyed by that success. Their fight for survival isn’t over, but they can breathe a little easier now.
Luton have won each of their last visits to this ground, and I think they can make it three on the bounce. They will be hurting after last week’s loss, and it’s been an awful long time since they lost two in a row.
