Aston Villa v Bradford Prediction and Betting Tips – Early Goal the Key
Aston Villa have a 3-1 deficit to overcome in the Capital One Cup semi-final against Bradford tonight, but can they climb the proverbial mountain?
Aston Villa are a short price to win tonight but they are 11/10 (Bet365) to progress to the final. That price will seem short to most, but the truth is the bookmakers can’t afford to lose out at a price any bigger given the vast gap between the sides in the football ladder.
Bradford have been sensational in this competition so far and after us saying Aston Villa were a sure fire bet in the first leg based on Bradford’s league form, it might be best to focus away from league standings and form tonight.
The Bantams are in a bit of a predicament here, to go to Villa Park and defend would be a suicide mission because any early Villa goal will get the home fans right behind them and pile the pressure on Bradford so their only option will be to go and play their usual game. It is important to note that away goals do not come into consideration until after extra-time, so a 2-0 Villa win would only be good enough to take the tie to extra time, however if the score stays the same after the additional 30 minutes they would progress to Wembley.
Villa had 11 shots on target in the first leg so they were creating chances, just not putting the ball in the net but they have only won one of their last five matches at home (that was a 2-1 victory against Championship side Ipswich).
The home side need another bright start tonight just like they did against West Brom and an early goal is crucial tonight, if that goal comes Bradford could well be in for a long night, and Villa could be on their way to Wembley.
