Atalanta vs Fiorentina Betting Tips
Atalanta’s 4-0 defeat in Zagreb was probably one of the more surprising midweek results, and the men from Bergamo must bounce back and focus on Serie A on Sunday. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men usually do hit the target, and it was unusual to see them draw a blank in the Champions League.
In the league, they’ve had mixed form. They lost their opening home match to Torino, despite scoring twice, although they did snatch a late win in Genoa last weekend. They don’t look quite as strong as last season, although they still have plenty of weapons in the final third.
The hosts always look capable of conceding, and have conceded six times in their opening three games.
Fiorentina are still on their barren run with the Viola having to failed to win any of their last 17 Serie A games. Despite those terrible figures, they did actually pick up a notable goalless draw at home to Juventus last weekend. Admittedly, they were helped by the stifling conditions in Florence which slowed down the game, and probably prevented the Turin side from playing at full pelt.
Away from home, they slipped up in Genoa, losing 2-1, and this young team must be given time to adapt. Once they get their first Serie A win under their belts, they could quite easily put together an unbeaten run. They drew 44% of their games last season which stopped from challenging in the top half, and they collect three points sooner rather than later.
However, neither side can be trusted to keep a clean sheet, and therefore it could be best to simply back goals. Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score is available at 17/20 with William Hill, and that looks like the best option. It would have landed in each of the last three meetings between these two teams.
Luis Muriel netted against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia last season, and he is likely to be on penalty duty once again. There has been a spot-kick in each of the last six match-ups, and if that pattern continues – Muriel is likely to step up. He is 17/10 to find the net here with Betfair.
