Blackburn v Liverpool betting tips and predictions for tonight’s FA Cup replay with a place at Wembley awaiting the winner.
Brendan Rodgers faces a daunting midweek trip to Ewood Park as Liverpool look to bounce back from successive League defeats and claim a place in the FA Cup Semi-Finals. Should The Reds lose the game, their chances of silverware will be over for another year.
Blackburn have so far knocked out Premier League duo Swansea and Stoke in the FA Cup. By no means were these fortunate victories; their respective 3-1 and 4-1 victories were by all accounts, fully deserved. The Ewood Park faithful have been magnificent throughout Rovers’ home matches and proved to be a decisive factor in motivating the players in their unlikely Cup run. Gary Bowyer’s men have also proved that away from home they are a match for Liverpool, holding The Reds to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first tie.
Rovers are in no danger of exiting the Championship this season having secured a comfortable mid table position with just six matches remaining. They come into the FA Cup tie off the back of an impressive 3-0 away victory over Leeds United at Elland road. This victory will provide Blackburn with even more belief going in to a clash against a Liverpool side whose confidence has been shattered over the past week following defeats to Champions League rivals Man United and Arsenal. If Blackburn could have picked any time to play Liverpool at Ewood, it would be now.
In just two games, Liverpool’s season has virtually fallen apart. Defeats to Man United and Arsenal have all but ended their hopes of a Champions League spot. Their confidence is on the floor at the moment and facing a trip to Ewood Park off the back of two demoralising defeats will prove a thorough test of character and resolve for the Reds’ players. A defeat to Blackburn in the Cup would surely put the final nail in the coffin of what was turning in to a promising season for Liverpool.
In both matches against United and Arsenal, Liverpool were caught short at full back with Rodgers preferred 3-5-2 formation. Alberto Moreno was caught out of position time and time again, and it proved costly in a number of the goals they conceded. It will be interesting to see whether the Liverpool boss decides to change his tactics seeing as Gary Bowyer will no doubt be instructing his team to press high and attack on the wings, as per United and Arsenal. If Liverpool decide to stick to this style of play I can see them coming unstuck against a side who have nothing to lose and buoyed a ferociously loyal support backing them to the hilt.
Liverpool were in form and firing on all cylinders in the League when the two teams met at Anfield. However, Rovers defended stoutly and were able to come away with a very creditable 0-0 draw. With the Reds now completely out of form and looking vulnerable, this is the ideal time for Blackburn to pull off a big Cup upset.
Tonight’s Blackburn v Liverpool match will be decided by very small margins. There is a massive amount of pressure on Liverpool to pull through in this tie and the Ewood crowd know this. They will be cheering every misplaced pass and every failed attempt on goal from the Liverpool players, and with their confidence already low, and defensive frailties so obviously exposed at the weekend, I think Liverpool will choke. Gary Bowyer will have his players geared up for the match and they will press the Liverpool players into mistakes.
Therefore for my first football betting tip, I am backing Blackburn to defy the odds and qualify for the Semi Finals at 13/5 with Betway.
Rodgers’ team obviously have quality up front and will pose a threat to Rovers’ defence. However, if Gary Bowyer gets his tactics and motivation right, his players can definitely expose the Liverpool defence.
Tonight’s next Blackburn v Liverpool prediction is for both teams to score at 19/20 with Ladbrokes.
For my third and final football betting tip, I am selecting Blackburn for a draw no bet; meaning, if at the final whistle (90 minutes) Blackburn are winning then you will win the bet. If they are drawing, you will get your money back. I have a sneaking suspicion that Rovers will grab victory in extra time or on penalties.
Therefore with draw-no-bet odds for Blackburn of 33/10 with 888sport, this is an extremely attractive proposition.
