Brentford v Middlesbrough predictions and betting tips for the first leg of their Championship play-off with three tips from our football tipster.
The first of the Championship play-offs kicks off on Friday night as Middlesbrough travel to West London to face Brentford.
The Bees weren’t expected to be in the play-off picture with Derby and Ipswich largely tipped to be the two teams to fill the positions behind Norwich and Middlesbrough, but Mark Warburton’s side never give up!
It has extended the managerial reign for the man from Enfield who can hold his head up high when he waves goodbye to the red and white stripes at the end of the season. It is a shame as he has directed the team in an upward trajectory and they have risen well above expectations this season.
Successive promotions would be quite the coup on the CV of the former Investment banker and his side have been playing some excellent stuff recently.
Middlesbrough blew their chances of automatic promotion on their last visit to West London when they went down 4-3 to Fulham after their goalkeeper came up for a corner and wasn’t able to get back in time. They have one of the strongest defences in the league and kept yet another clean sheet on the final day of the season against Brighton.
They won 1-0 at Griffin Park earlier in the season and if they could achieve in Friday’s Brentford v Middlesbrough match, they would be ecstatic. Taking a goal advantage back to Riverside would play into the hands of Karanka’s men as they will definitely keep it tight.
Brentford haven’t been the safest defensively, they do leak goals, but they also score plenty at the other end. However, this will be a different sort of game.
It’s odds on that Brentford v Middlesbrough will end with fewer than three goals, but our football tipster can honestly see that happening. Karanka won’t let his side play as open as they did against Fulham and they have the class of Tomlin, Adomah and Bamford to create something in the final third.
Our first Brentford v Middlesbrough betting tip is under 2.5 goals and the best odds are 8/11 with Betfred.
The Brentford v Middlesbrough League One play-off match odds are quite even and it’s the sort of game where using the Draw No Bet market may come in handy for our football tips. I can’t see Middlesbrough losing this match, but it is likely that they would settle for the draw.
Our football tipster thinks Evens about the Draw No Bet Middlesbrough seems like a decent option, have that bet with Ladbrokes.
This could be the sort of game that is settled by a set piece and although he hasn’t scored for a while, it is always worth backing Grant Leadbitter to score anytime. The former Sunderland man is from the North East and knows what it means to the club. Although he isn’t in the purple patch he was at the end of 2014, he is always capable of scoring from long range and takes nearly all of the penalties and free kicks.
The third of our football tips for Brentford v Middlesbrough is for Grant Leadbitter to score anytime at 9/2 Bet365.
