Football tips for Brighton v Watford in Saturday afternoon’s Championship match as the season draws to a close, can Watford get promoted to the Premier League?
Although they are struggling at the wrong end of the table, Brighton can have a huge say in who goes up to the Premier League and who has to suffer the lottery of the play-offs. That’s because before playing Middlesbrough on the final day of the season, they face the Hornets at the AMEX on Saturday lunchtime and we have got three free weekend football tips.
They aren’t yet safe, but it’s looking increasingly likely they will stay up by the skin of their teeth and Chris Hughton has a lot of work to do over the summer in order to recreate their play-off chasing season under Gus Poyet. They haven’t been able to score this season, Dale Stephens’ strike in their defeat against Wigan was their first since the middle of March and losing to their relegation rivals was a big blow.
Watford meanwhile are one of four teams who will battle it out right down to the wire for promotion to the ‘promised land’ and they are in good shape to do so. They are playing well under Slavisa Jokanovic and have plenty of players who are capable of finding the net. It was a surprise that their winning goal came from former Blackpool defender Craig Cathcart’s sensational finish at the weekend.
The current Watford are vastly different to the Watford of old. They are not outscoring their opponents, they are winning 1-0 and 2-0 and closing games out as well as keeping clean sheets, a decent trait at this stage of the season and less nerve-jangling for their faithful supporters.
The Hertfordshire club are short here, but they will surely win. They are away from home, which boosts the price for us and I would take them to beat a very average Brighton side.
Our football tipsters’ first bet for Brighton v Watford is to bet on a Watford win at 19/20 with Sky Bet.
With Brighton failing to score in a number of their matches recently and Watford’s new found obstinate defensive displays it surely shouldn’t be raining goals on the South Coast. 30 of Brighton’s 44 games this season have had fewer than three goals and although Watford have managed 88 goals this season, that was helped by a 7-2 victory against a truly terrible Blackpool side and some early season scoring. They beat Birmingham by a single goal and scored two without reply against Millwall and Middlesbrough in their last 5 games, they have scored just enough goals to gain the points.
The next football tip for Saturday afternoon is under 2.5 goals at 19/20 with Bet365.
There’s no telling whether Odion Ighalo will start or not as the Nigerian has been shaking his niggling injury off. That leaves Matej Vydra and Troy Deeney to lead the line. It may pay to back a midfielder for a Brighton v Watford goalscorer bet and one man who has really improved the team since his arrival is Adlene Guedioura. The Algerian has scored a couple of goals along the way and he could be the one to score anytime during the 90 minutes.
Our footy tipster has put up Guedioura to score anytime as his last betting tip at 4/1 with Betfred.
