Second bottom Cardiff City host Aston Villa tonight in a game of real significance at the foot of the Premier League table and we have got free football betting tips for the match.
Just six points separate the two sides, although Villa sit seven places above the Welsh newcomers, reflecting just how tight it is in the bottom half of the table this year.
Both sides come into this match on the back of disappointing results. Villa went down 2-0 at home to struggling West Ham on the weekend, with Cardiff losing 3-0 at bitter rivals Swansea City in the south Wales derby.
Since the controversial sacking of Malky Mackay new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn’t provided the turn in fortunes as owner Vincent Tan would have hoped. Other clubs down at the bottom such as Crystal Palace under Tony Pulis and Sunderland under Gus Poyet have managed to climb the table in recent weeks, and Cardiff now find themselves three points adrift of the Black Cats and of safety.
A home tie to another struggling side in Villa, who have won just twice in the league since the turn of the year presents the Norwegian with an opportunity to pick up some ground which he really has to take but we don’t think Cardiff can win for our football betting tips. Aston Villa will also see this game as one in which they should be picking up points, and with the league as tight as it is a win in a game like this could see them find a bit of breathing space. It is a real six pointer, a game neither side can really afford to lose, and as a result it could be a cagey affair, but I do fancy goals in this one.
Cardiff have strengthened their front line with Wilfred Zaha and Kenwyne Jones recruited in January, and Villa have scored in their last four away league games. Betway go 4/5 on both teams to score which seems very reasonable and our first Cardiff vs Aston Villa betting tip, whist Stan James offer 18/5 on both teams to score with the match ending a draw which is a result I could certainly see happening.
I’ve mentioned Cardiff’s new additions brought in to score the goals to get them up the table, and if they are going to start scoring, a home tie to Aston Villa is the perfect time to do so. Jones can be backed at 11/5 with Bet365 to score anytime and Zaha at 4/1 with Spreadex. For Villa Christian Benteke unsurprisingly leads the way, and is offered at 2/1 with Bet Victor, but an outside shout, a man who has been in the goals recently and is handy from set pieces is Leandro Bacuna, and can be found at 6/1 with Coral to score anytime.
On paper this is probably a game for the purist, but with the league so finely poised as we head towards the back straight with so many teams scrapping for survival games like these become cup finals.
