Celtic vs Rangers Betting Tips

Celtic haven’t looked convincing yet this season and there are clearly still problems behind the scenes. Brendan Rodgers was delighted to see his side easily brush aside Suduva in midweek and he’ll be hoping that success gives them momentum going into this Old Firm clash. In the Premiership, they’ve beaten Hamilton and Livingston but they suffered an away reverse at Hearts. They have a terrific record against Rangers and are unbeaten in 11 of the last 12 games with their Glasgow counterparts. Steven Gerrard has made his side much tougher to beat and fans are delighted with his impact. His team are difficult to break down and although they’ve dropped points against Aberdeen and Motherwell, they remain unbeaten and I believe they can maintain that sequence on Sunday lunchtime. They’ve taken far fewer shot than Celtic but they’ve been significantly more accurate with their efforts and around 20% of their efforts have been on target. Connor Goldson has made a decent impression since arriving from Brighton and I believe he can help marshall the Rangers defence in this contest. After energy-sapping midweek ties in Europe, both of these sides will be desperate to avoid defeat in this first Old Firm of the season. Draw looks a sensible outcome and is available at 3/1 with Betway. This is the first of our Celtic vs Rangers predictions.

These games are always hugely enjoyable affairs and the recent meetings have been full of goals. Rangers’ defence has improved but they haven’t kept a clean sheet in either of their two away games so far. There may be some tired legs on show and I think we will see plenty of action at both ends. There have been ten goals in the last two meetings between these sides with Celtic netting eight of them. Celtic are averaging 13 shots per game at the moment and they have the firepower to get on the scoresheet whilst Rangers have been pretty accurate with their efforts on target. Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score is available at 23/20 with William Hill and that looks a tasty price considering the recent head-to-heads. It’s the second of our Celtic vs Rangers Predictions.

Alfredo Morelos has just received his first International call-up this week but the maverick striker was also dismissed in the Europa League on Thursday night. He is able to compete in this fixture and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him bounce back in this tie. Steven Gerrard has refused to criticise his forward and his public backing may help his confidence. He’s looked like a far more rounded player since the former Liverpool captain came to the club and I would be happy to take the nice price on offer for him to score anytime. He is available at 13/5 with Ladbrokes to net during the 90 minutes.

Celtic vs Rangers Betting Preview

Celtic have a tremendous record against their near-neighbours and it’s unsurprising to see them priced up at a relatively cramped price. Betfair make them 8/13 shots to continue their Old Firm dominance and take bragging rights once again. Rangers can be backed at 4/1 to pick up a rare victory whilst it’s 16/5 to end all-square. The pair played out a stalemate three meetings-ago.

Goals are expected once again and it should be a terrific game for the neutral. Over 2.5 Goals is available at 4/5 and this would have landed in three of the last five meetings. Under 2.5 Goals can be backed at Evens.

Jozo Simunovic is one of a number of absentees for the home side with Nir Bitton and Lewis Morgan also sitting out of this tie at Celtic Park. Odsonne Edouard is a likely starter and he is off the mark already this campaign and can be backed at Evens to score inside 90 minutes.

Graham Dorrans is a long-term absentee for the visitors with Jamie Murphy and Jordan Rossiter also sidelined. Gerrard has hinted that our anytime goalscorer pick Alfredo Morelos will start and he is 7/1 to net the opening goal.
