Birmingham vs Aston Villa Predictions and Betting Tips: Championship Preview

Birmingham predictions

Birmingham vs Aston Villa predictions and betting tips for this Sunday’s West Midland’s derby on March 10th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Both Aston Villa and Birmingham still have an outside chance of making the play-offs this season, so there is plenty at stake in this Midlands derby. The first meeting between the pair this season was absolute cracker, and fans are expecting another entertaining 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon. Villa got back to winning ways last weekend, but their away form is a concern, whilst Garry Monk will be hoping to celebrate his anniversary with the Blues by picking up all three points in this crunch clash. See our Birmingham vs Aston Villa predictions below.

Birmingham vs Aston Villa Preview

Another six-goal thriller is unlikely at St.Andrews, but it should be another entertaining 90 minutes of football. Birmingham’s form has been mixed in recent weeks, with an away defeat to Hull coming off the back of an unlikely victory at Ashton Gate. They can be a difficult side to pin down, but their home form is usually fairly solid, and they won’t make it easy for Villa. The Blues are unbeaten in 14 of their 17 matches at St.Andrews, although eight of those have ended all-square. Garry Monk must be commended for doing an excellent job in trying circumstances, and although he is likely to lose a couple of his star players this summer, a late push for the play-offs isn’t out of the question. Middlesbrough, Bristol City and oddly enough, Bolton are the only three sides to have left this ground with maximum points this campaign, and Villa’s recent away day woes suggest that they will struggle to add their name to that exclusive list. Dean Smith’s side were back to their imperious best against Derby last weekend, but they’ve not won on the road since Boxing Day. They’ve drawn four of their last seven away days, so they aren’t beaten easily, and that could lead to a tight encounter. Draw looks the likelist outcome here, and it’s the first of our Championship betting tips for this tasty Midlands clash.

Birmingham vs Aston Villa Goals Betting Tips

The majority of Villa’s goals have come at home this season, and there have been a total of just nine goals in their last six matches on the road. Birmingham have looked sloppy at the back in recent weeks, conceding twice to Blackburn, and then another couple at the Kcom Stadium, and with Jack Grealish back in the Villa line-up, there should be an added attacking impetus to the visitors play. They’ve looked more assured at the back recently, so at the prices, I think it’s worth taking a chance on Under 2.5 Goals. The bookies have the prices as a pick’em, but the last two meetings at St.Andrews have ended 0-0 and 1-1, and this could go the same way. Under 2.5 Goals is the second of our Birmingham vs Aston Villa betting tips for Sunday’s afternoon’s derby.

Birmingham vs Aston Villa Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

The aforementioned Jack Grealish scored a screamer last weekend, and whilst I’m not expecting another wonder-goal in this Midlands derby, he looks a decent price to make it two in two. The midfielder could be snapped up by a Premier League club this summer, and Villa really missed his presence during his prolonged absence. He’s looking to bag his fourth goal of a stop-start campaign, and he could be worth backing at 10/3. Although all of his goals have arrived at Villa Park, I think he’s worth siding with. He won’t be afraid to burst forward from midfield, and he is the third of our Birmingham vs Aston Villa predictions.

Birmingham vs Aston Villa Match Betting Preview

Despite their unimpressive away form, the bookies have installed Villa as surprise favourites for this tie, and they can be backed at 17/10 to pick up all three points. Brum aren’t far behind in the betting, and they can be backed at 7/4 to pick up a seventh home victory of the season, and gain revenge for their 4-2 hammering earlier in the campaign. The draw is the first of our betting tips, and can be backed at 12/5.

The bookies cannot decide which way this tie is going, and it’s both 10/11 for Over and Under 2.5 Goals in this game. For anyone who fancies another cracking, it’s 12/5 for Over 3.5 Goals on Sunday afternoon.

Che Adams is a player who has been linked with a move to the top flight and he can be backed at 9/2 to score the opening goal of this clash. It’s 4/1 for the prolific Tammy Abraham to break the deadlock. Adams’ strike partner Lukas Jutkiewicz is available at 13/2.
