Brentford vs Aston Villa Predictions and Betting Tips: Championship Preview

Brentford predictions

Brentford vs Aston Villa predictions and betting tips for this Wednesday night Championship fixture on February 13th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Villa were involved in one of the games of the weekend as they came back from 3-0 down to pick up an unlikely point against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. Dean Smith’s side face another test at Griffin Park with the Villa coach taking on his former club in West London. The Bees have much better in recent weeks and they’ll be confident of getting something from this tie. Villa’s defence is not to be trusted and Brentford could exploit that.  See our Brentford vs Aston Villa predictions below.

Brentford vs Aston Villa Predictions

Brentford have improved massively under Thomas Frank and until their 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, they had been on a superb run of form. The Bees are better against sides who allow them space and let them play their game. Villa are likely to do that. Brentford came from 2-0 down against Blackburn during their last Griffin Park encounter and there are still a few worries about their defence. The Bees don’t keep many clean sheets and although Julian Jeanvier has settled in nicely, they could be really tested by the combination of pace and power provided by Kodjia and Abraham. However, at the other end of the pitch, they have some special talents and the likes of Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay should be able to link up well with Said Benrahma. Sergi Canos has also been in excellent form and there’s every chance that he could be involved from the start. They’ve now netted 13 goals in their last four matches and although they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in any of those games, they could out-score Villa here. The away side haven’t scored in their last two away games but they are likely to find the net here. They’ve got the eleventh best away form in the division and they could fall short yet again on the road. I like Dean Smith but I do believe Thomas Frank could out-think him here. Brentford Win is the first of our Championship betting tips for Wednesday night.

Brentford vs Aston Villa Goals Betting Tips

This could be another Championship thriller. Both sides have been involved in some terrific games recently and we’re likely to see plenty of entertaining football here. You’d be unsurprised to learn that 65% of their games have ended with Over 2.5 Goals this season with their games averaging 3.09 goals. There’s been an incredible 105 goals so far in their matches although that stat is skewed by their 5-5 draw with Forest in 2018. Brentford aren’t far behind, their games are averaging 3.07 goals per game and their recent matches have certainly helped increase that average. It was 2-2 when they met at Villa Park back in August and I think it’s definitely worth taking a chance on a high number of goals in this fixture once again. Over 2.5 Goals is available at 4/6 but if you’d like to stretch it slightly, Coral are offering 20/23 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score and that is the second of our Brentford vs Aston Villa betting tips for Wednesday.

Brentford vs Aston Villa Anytime Goalscorer

It might be worth taking a look at Said Benrahma for a goal in this game. He’s taken a while to find his feet in the second tier but he’s been firing on all cylinders recently and he netted in Brentford’s last home match against Blackburn. He’s netted all four of his Championship goals since December 8th and is clearly enjoying working in the new system. Neal Maupay is the shortest price in this market but the Frenchman does miss a fair chunk of his chances and the classy Benrahma might just be a better option. Said Benrahma is the third of our Brentford vs Aston Villa predictions for this evening’s game.

Brentford vs Aston Villa Match Betting Preview

Brentford start as favourites for this tie and can be backed at a decent price of 23/20 to take all three points from this fixture. Villa have struggled on the road since Dean Smith took charge and they can be backed at 12/5 to take the spoils back to the West Midlands. He would love to taste victory against his former employers. The draw is priced at 11/4 and the pair couldn’t be separated in August.

The bookies are expecting a high-scoring game and it’s difficult to envisage anything else happening between these two teams. Over 2.5 Goals is available at 4/6 whilst more ambitious punters may prefer 13/8 available on Over 3.5 Goals.

Neal Maupay has been amongst the goals this season and he is 3/1 to net the opener in this game. Villa’s Tammy Abraham is one of the most prolific strikers in the Championship and he is 7/2 to break the deadlock in this tie. The explosive Ollie Watkins is 7/1 to get the first goal at Griffin Park on Wednesday.
