Bristol City vs Aston Villa Predictions

Bristol City are looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats in the Championship and our football predictions are backing the Robins to inflict more misery on Steve Bruce. Lee Johnson’s side have faced two very effective home sides and did have chances in both games. They’ve only lost once at home so far and that was against high-flying Middlesbrough. They’ve beaten Bristol City and Sheffield United at Ashton Gate already this campaign and I think they can pick up their third home win of the season against an out-of-sorts opposition. Villa have never won at this ground, losing 3-1 on their first visit to Bristol and then drawing 1-1 here in August 2017. Steve Bruce is under increasing pressure from the Villa faithful and his tinkering failed to spark a revival against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend. Their only recent victory came against Rotherham, who are notoriously poor travellers and this will be much tougher. The Villains have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their four away matches this season and they’ve picked up just two points from their last nine on the road. Bristol City’s home form is generally strong and they should have too much for a Villa side who are struggling for form. They are listed as the favourites and are priced up at 13/8 with Betfair. Lee Johnson’s side are the first of our Bristol City vs Aston Villa predictions for Friday evening and you can use their £100 of free bets on our Championship betting tips.

Bristol City vs Aston Villa Both Teams to Score Odds

As we’ve already mentioned, Villa’s problems have been keeping clean sheets. They haven’t defended well this season and they are still searching for a defensive partner for James Chester. This is a very different Villa side to the one who beat Bristol City 5-0 last season and they are liable to concede here. They have stockpiled forward players and the addition of Tammy Abraham is certainly a good one. With Jonathon Kodjia, Connor Hourihane and John McGinn, they visitors are always going to create and score chances and they stand an excellent chance of breaching the Robins defence. Each of the last two meetings at this ground have resulted in BTTS and I think it can land on the third consecutive occasion. Both Teams to Score? Yes is the second of our Bristol City vs Aston Villa predictions and it is available at 4/5 with Sporting Bet.

Bristol City vs Aston Villa Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Andreas Weimann is Bristol City’s leading goalscorer with five goals so far but he hasn’t netted for a few games and we’re looking elsewhere. Marley Watkins has netted both of his goals at home so far but he may not start this game. Therefore, we’ll opt for Famara Diedhiou, who has returned to the side this month and is off the mark. He’s netted twice already, once here and once on the road. He can cause problems for this fragile Villa defence and give them plenty to think about. The striker is available at 11/5 with Betway and looks a decent bet to find the back of the net in this fixture. He is the third of our Bristol City vs Aston Villa predictions and you can use their £30 free bet to back the Senegalese striker in this Friday night game.

Bristol City vs Aston Villa Betting Preview

Bristol City Win – 8/5

Aston Villa Win – 15/8

Draw – 12/5

[global_advert id=”37941″]

Bristol City have been priced at 8/5 to win this game and they should be able to bounce back following a couple of disappointing results on the road. The Robins should be able to see off a Villa side who are clearly lacking confidence. The visitors can be backed at 15/8 whilst the draw is a possibility at 12/5. Villa’s last away game ended all-square.

Goals are likely in this tie and there are always plenty when these sides meet. There have been 13 goals in four meetings between these sides and that tally is likely to increase here. Both Over 2.5 and Over 3.5 would have landed in 50% of those meetings and are available at 19/20 and 12/5. Both Teams to Score? Yes came in during their last meeting here and that’s a short price at 4/6.

Our football tipster has selected Famara Diedhiou in the anytime goalscorer market and he is also the joint 6/1 favourite in the first goalscorer market. That price is shared with Jonathon Kodjia, effectively the man he replaced at the club. The Villa man will be desperate to net against his former employers. Andreas Weimann is 13/2 to get back to scoring ways whilst Connor Hourihane is available at 7/1 to net the opener.
