Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions

The first of our Championship predictions for Sunday afternoon is a draw. The Robins have been excellent this season under Lee Johnson and despite a couple of draws recently, they are still a side who should be in and around the top six. They have a great home record against this opposition and have put four past the Owls in two of their last three meetings at Ashton Gate. At home this season, they’ve won twice, beating Reading and Blackburn and they picked up decent draws with Villa and Nottingham Forest. Only Middlesbrough have left this stadium with maximum points with Pulis’ side responsible for two of the five goals that Bristol City have conceded at home. They found Rotherham tough to break down at the New York Stadium but they are far more effective in front of their own fans. Sheffield Wednesday come off the back of a 2-2 draw with West Brom and it leaves them unbeaten in their last three. The Owls are also unbeaten in four of their last five games although they’ve needed a couple of Adam Reach stunners to help them collect points. Jos Luhukay has had to rely upon a number of younger players this season but he clearly has this squad fighting for one another and it’s difficult to write them off. The away side have only lost three times this campaign, all away from home although two of these came in the first seven days of the season getting underway. Both sides are extremely capable and it should be an entertaining game. A draw looks like a sensible outcome and can be backed at 11/4 with Betfred. It is the first of our Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions for Sunday afternoon.

Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday Both Teams to Score Odds

Whilst Sheffield Wednesday are tough to beat, they’ve notably not kept a clean sheet yet this season and that must be a concern for fans. The way that Harvey Barnes opened them up for his equaliser in midweek was far from ideal and they look unlikely to keep Bristol City off the score-sheet here. The Robins are far from the highest scorers in the league with just 15 goals so far but they made a huge statement with a 4-1 victory here over Blackburn. The hosts have kept just one clean sheet at Ashton Gate this season with Wednesday’s neighbours failing to find the back of the net although they had plenty of chances. Three of the last five meetings between these sides have resulted in BTTS and I think it’s worth looking at once again. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 3/4 with Paddy Power and is the second of our Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions.

Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Adam Reach could unleash another stunner in this game and he’s always a good bet in this market. However, we’re opting for a player who may start on the bench but is likely to play some part in this fixture. Marley Watkins came on and looked lively against Rotherham in midweek and he’s also bagged a couple of goals this season. He’s Bristol City’s joint-second top goalscorer and he is 10/3 with Bet365. The former Barnsley and Norwich man is the third of our Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions and you can use their £100 in free bet credits to back any of our Championship predictions.

Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday Match Betting Preview

Bristol City Win – 17/20

Draw – 13/5

Sheffield Wednesday Win – 15/4

[global_advert id=”37941″]

Bristol City are the favourites in this game and their home record is decent. They’ve won twice so far at Ashton Gate and they’ve already beaten a South Yorkshire side here. They can be backed at 17/20 and many punters are likely to include them in weekend accumulators. Sheffield Wednesday may have a leaky defence but they don’t lose many games and it’s 13/5 for the game to end all-square. A Wednesday away win is available at 15/4 and may be tempting for some.

With the exception of the 0-0 draw two meetings ago, there are usually goals between these two sides. Over 2.5 Goals at 9/10 is hugely tempting. Those who want to go one step further can support Over 3.5 Goals at 11/5. Both Teams to Score? Yes is 4/5.

In terms of scorelines, the 1-1 draw is the most popular selection and can be backed at 11/2. Another 2-2 draw is also available at 14/1.

Andreas Weimann is the shortest price in the first goalscorer market but the goals have dried up for the former Villa man. He can be backed at 5/1 whilst Fernando Forestieri is available at 8/1 and he found the net in midweek. Jamie Paterson rattled the woodwork against Rotherham and he is also available at 8/1.
