Championship Betting Tips – 5 Bets for 29th September

Sky Bet Championship predictions

Championship best betting tips for the matches taking place this weekend – Saturday 29th September. The action this weekend kicks-off with two matches on Friday night both kicking off at 7:45pm ends on Saturday with Rotherham vs Stoke at 5:30pm. See our predictions and betting tips for both of those Championship games.

Birmingham vs Ipswich – Saturday 3pm

The first of our Championship betting tips comes from St.Andrews. Birmingham got their first victory last week and deservedly edged past high-flying Leeds. The Blues have been fairly unlucky this season and they’ve hit the woodwork more times than any other side in the second tier. Gary Monk is likely to name an unchanged side for this game and they should have the confidence to collect three points from this encounter. They are averaging over 11 shots per game and will be on the front foot throughout this home match. Ipswich have got off to a poor start and couldn’t find a way past ten-man Bolton last weekend. Paul Hurst needs his side to produce something extraordinary here but they don’t have a good record at this ground. The Tractor Boys have lost their last three visits to the Midlands and haven’t won here since 2012. A home victory looks on the cards and at 10/11 with Ladbrokes, the Blues should be backed here.

Swansea vs QPR – Saturday 3pm

QPR make the trip to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon and this game isn’t likely to be a thriller. Two of the lowest scorers in the division come face-to-face and it could be a low-scoring 90 minutes. The Swans haven’t scored a league goal in September and have failed to net in four of their last five matches. They are defending effectively however and they managed to keep Middlesbrough off the score-sheet last weekend. Graham Potter doesn’t have the biggest pool of players to choose from but his side will fight and scrap until the very end. QPR have improved and Steve McClaren’s side are better at the back. They’ve netted just three away goals so far, two of which came against Bolton and barring their early-season collapse to West Brom, they’ve not been bad at the back either. They nulified Birmingham during their last away trip and they should be able to keep Swansea’s blunt attack at bay. Under 2.5 Goals is short at 13/20 with Betway but looks a likely outcome of this one.

Preston vs West Brom – Saturday 3pm

Preston’s dismal form doesn’t make good reading for Lilywhite fans and their usually watertight defence has been leaking goals left, right and centre. Alex Neil’s side conceded three goals in their latest home fixture against Reading and they’ve also shipped twice to Stoke and Bolton here. West Brom are the last side that they would want visiting Deepdale with Darren Moore’s side in decent goalscoring form. WBA have been prolific and have netted 22 times so far this campaign. They’ve been installed as the new favourites to be promoted straight back to the Premier League and they should be able to pick up three points here. They have a prolific strikeforce with both Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle finding their shooting boots and that should help create a high-scoring 90 minutes. Over 2.5 Goals looks a decent price at 19/20 with Sporting Bet and that’s the third of our Championship predictions for Saturday afternoon.

Norwich vs Wigan – Saturday 3pm

Both of these sides have been in excellent form coming into this fixture and it could be an entertaining 90 minutes in East Anglia. Norwich have won three on the bounce coming into game and they’ve also started keeping clean sheets. Daniel Farke’s side have taken a while to find their rhythm but they are starting to perform and the form of Teemu Pukki is a real boost. Wigan are also in good form but their away form remains troublesome. The majority of the Latics’ points have come at the DW and they have already lost to Aston Villa, QPR and Brentford on the road. They make a long trip to Norfolk for this fixture and might just find the hosts too hot to handle. Both teams have won four of the last six and there might not be much between them but Norwich’s recent form and home advantage should get them over the line. Norwich can be backed at 13/10 with Bet365 and look a decent bet.

Blackburn vs Nottingham Forest – Saturday 3pm

This looks a tough old game to predict and we’re leaving the outright market alone here. Blackburn put three past Stoke during their last game and Bradley Dack was back amongst the goals. Despite missing some of the season through injury, he’s netted six times already and he should be able to add to that tally here. Forest’s defence has improved but Blackburn offer plenty going forward and Dack plays a major part in that. A Tony Mowbray side will always be fluid and Dack is relishing his role. Six goals in seven appearances is not to be sniffed at and he has taken to the Championship like a duck to water. He’s overcome his injury woes and should start this game. He looks a decent bet in the anytime goalscorer market and is available at 2/1 with Betfred.
