Sheffield Wednesday vs Norwich – Saturday 3pm

The first of our Championship predictions comes from Hillsborough with out-of-form Sheffield Wednesday hosting in-form Norwich. The Canaries have won three on the bounce and should have made it a lot easier for themselves against Brentford last weekend. The Owls have been far too open lately and they are still yet to keep a clean sheet this campaign. The fans are beginning to get a little twitchy as they haven’t seen their side win any of their last five home matches. Norwich have lost just one of their opening seven games on the road and have won three of the last four and they will be tough to break down once again. It’s never easy visiting South Yorkshire but Daniel Farke’s side have conceded just four times in seven games and they should be able to capitalise on Wednesday’s leaky back-line. Norwich to Win 11/8 with Betfred and is our first Championship betting tip. Ambitious punters could also consider Norwich to Win and Both Teams to Score which is priced at 7/2.

Ipswich vs Preston – Saturday 3pm

Ipswich have appointed Paul Lambert as Paul Hurst’s successor and the former Stoke and Wolves boss is tasked with steering the beleaguered Tractor Boys away from the dreaded drop zone. The hosts haven’t been too porous defensively at home with just nine goals conceded at Portman Road. Teams such as Bolton, Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and today’s opponents, Preston have all shipped more home goals than the Suffolk side on their own patch. It’s something to build upon for the new boss and Lambert tends to build from the back. He immediately tightened up Stoke’s generous defence upon arrival in Staffordshire, a run which included a goalless draw at Anfield and just five goals conceded in his last six games as Potters boss. Preston are unbeaten in five and arrive in good form but they often struggle to break down well-organised lower-ranked sides and scored just a single goal against both Hull and Rotherham. This could be a game low on quality in the final third. Under 2.5 Goals could be best way of getting involved at 4/5 with Bet365. It is the second of our Championship predictions for Saturday afternoon.

Derby vs Birmingham – Saturday 3pm

Derby have assembled an exciting young side and they displayed their credentials against Chelsea in midweek with a narrow 3-2 defeat to Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s side should have beaten Middlesbrough last weekend but were undone by a comical own goal in the dying minutes. They naturally score goals and Jack Marriott netted another one in midweek at Stamford Bridge. They are the seventh highest scorers in the league [which is about right, considering their league position] and have netted 11 times in seven matches at Pride Park. They face an in-form Birmingham side. Garry Monk’s side spent the early part of the season under-performing but their endeavour has paid off and they are finally getting their rewards. They’ve netted just six times on the road but haven’t drawn a blank in any of their last seven matches and have found the target at Elland Road, Griffin Park and the Bet365. Five of Birmingham’s last six Championship games have ended with BTTS and this should go the same way. It is 4/5 with Betway and is the third of our Championship betting tips this weekend.

Stoke vs Middlesbrough – Saturday 5:30pm

The fourth Championship prediction comes from the televised tie. Stoke have considerably improved in recent weeks and although they are still a long way short of being promotion contenders that we expected them to be, Gary Rowett has made his side much harder to beat. The Potters have lost 1 of their last six matches in the Championship and that came against in-form Birmingham. They’ve kept 3 clean sheets in five and have made great strides forward since their 2-2 draw with Rotherham. Middlesbrough have one of the best defences in the league but one of the weakest attacks. Only five teams have netted fewer than the Teessiders and 2 of them are in the relegation zone. They average just 1.13 goals per game and Stoke shouldn’t have too many problems stopping them from netting. Stoke Draw No Bet is priced at 4/5 with Paddy Power is the fourth of our betting tips for Saturday.

Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United – Saturday 3pm

Two in-form strikers come up against one another on Saturday as Lewis Grabban faces Billy Sharp. The Forest striker was on target in the EFL Cup in midweek, taking his total to nine for the campaign. He’s found the net in three of his last four Championship matches and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him repeat the trick here. This may look like a tricky encounter for the home side but the striker has found the net against Middlesbrough, Norwich and Blackburn this year and he should be able to continue his hot streak here. Forest will create plenty of chances and this could be a high-scoring game between the pair and Grabban should be heavily involved. He is 19/10 to score anytime in this fixture and is the last of our Championship betting tips for Saturday.
