Leeds vs West Brom predictions and betting tips for this Friday evening Championship match on Friday 1st March with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.
Another cracking Championship encounter takes place in front of the TV cameras as West Brom travel to Elland Road to face fellow promotion candidates Leeds. WBA are looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat to Sheffield United, but they are far better on the road, and will take confidence from their recent form away from the Hawthornes. Leeds also need to return to winning ways after slipping up against QPR on Tuesday night. The Whites were below-par and this is a swift turnaround for Marcelo Bielsa’s injury-hit side. Can they re-establish their promotion credentials? See our predictions and betting tips below.
The Baggies are a strange side as they have excelled on the road, but disappointing at the Hawthornes. Although they battled hard against Sheffield United, they weren’t able to take a point from the game and they are now winless in six at home. Since beating Wigan on Boxing Day, the home fans have had very little to cheer, but travelling supporters have enjoyed plenty of superb away days recently. WBA beat Villa and QPR in recent weeks, and they’ve also won at Deepdale and Carrow Road this campaign.
Naysayers have been writing Leeds off for months, but Marcelo Bielsa’s men have defying their critics and continued to pick up results and challenge for promotion. However, they have a number of players who have been struggling for fitness, and this quick turnaround will not help matters. They weren’t particularly impressive in their 2-1 victory over Bolton, relying upon a goalkeeping however. They were even more ineffective in midweek, losing 1-0 to QPR, a side who had lost seven on the bounce prior to that victory. There should be a decent crowd in Elland Road, but I think West Brom can continue their upward momentum on the road and take something from this clash. West Brom are a big price, but we’ll back them on the Draw No Bet market. WBA Draw No Bet is the first of our Championship betting tips for Friday night.
I fancied goals in the QPR vs Leeds game, but sadly it didn’t deliver. QPR kept a tight ship, although Leeds didn’t offer much going forward. West Brom’s defence has been much-improved recently, although they conceded twice to Steve McClaren’s outfit ten days ago. I think we’ll have a few goals in this tie, but it might be safer to stick with 2-3 Goals exactly, which is always a tempting price. There were five goals when the two sides met earlier in the campaign, but with plenty at stake here, I’m not expecting this game to be quite as entertaining. As we approach the business end of the season, neither side can afford to drop points in this game, and it could get off to a slow start. 2-3 Goals is the second of our Leeds vs West Brom predictions for tonight’s televised tie.
Jefferson Montero has impressed since signing from Swansea and the winger has been able to complement the likes of Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez over the last couple of weeks. He doesn’t score often, but he netted the opener during the Baggies’ last away win, and I think he’s done enough to merit another start in this match. WBA have numerous dangerous players going forward, but Montero offers something different, and I think he can help open the Leeds’ defence, which has been struggling to keep clean sheets recently. Jefferson Montero to Score Anytime is the third of our Championship predictions.
As the home side, and the higher-ranked team, it’s little surprise to see Leeds listed as the favourites for this tie. They can be backed at 6/5 to get back to winning ways. It’s 21/10 for West Brom to continue their superb away form whilst it’s 13/5 for the game to end all-square.
BTTS was a short price in midweek, but it didn’t land unfortunately. However, there have been loads of goals in recent meetings between these two sides. It is priced at 4/6 to land again in this tie, whilst it’s 11/10 for BTTS? No.
Patrick Bamford, who netted from the spot is the 4/1 favourite to score the opening goal of the game here. He’s followed by Dwight Gayle, who has recently returned from his suspension and can be backed at 5/1. Jay Rodriguez did score at the weekend, but it was with his hand (again) and he can be backed at 11/2 to break the deadlock in this tie. Finally, Jacob Murphy has impressed since arriving at the Hawthornes and he can be backed at 10/1 to open the scoring.
