Reasons for Our Preston vs Stoke Predictions

Preston beat QPR on the opening day of the season and keep their excellent home record in tact. Deepdale is always a difficult place to go and they should have been two or three up by half time. They were narrowly beaten by Swansea last week and there are concerns over their lack of firepower with Sean Maguire out injured. They will be facing a side who are struggling to adapt to life in the Championship with Gary Rowett’s men picking up just a single point from their opening couple of games. They were lucky against Brentford, capitalising on a defensive error and never stood a chance against Leeds. The Lilywhites lost just six times here last season and they are going to be difficult to beat under Alex Neil. Gary Rowett did guide his Derby side to a 1-0 victory here last season and he’ll be hoping for a repeat but it doesn’t seem likely. Preston Draw No Bet is the first of our Preston vs Stoke predictions and can be backed at 9/10 with Betfair.

Preston have conceded just one goal but also netted a single strike in just 180 minutes of football. Stoke have struggle for goals with Benik Afobe solely responsible for their goal haul so far. Neither side will give much away at the back and it could be a tight, cagey affair which is decided by a single goal. There was an average of just 2.13 goals per match in Preston games last season and neither side are free-scoring at this early stage of the campaign. Alex Neil has had the tendency to play one up front during Championship games recently although he deployed a far more attacking line-up in the Carabao Cup. Tom Barkhuizen has been playing on the right-hand side this season and is hugely versatile. The former Blackpool man has an eye for goal and he went close during Preston’s last home match. We don’t know whether Louis Moult or Graham Burke will get the nod to lad the line although we’re pretty certain that Barkhuizen will be deployed on the wing once again and he should be backed. The second of our Preston vs Stoke predictions is Tom Barkhuizen to score anytime and he is 3/1 with Betway.
