Chelsea v Barcelona Betting Tips and Predictions

Football predictions and betting tips for Barcelona v Chelsea in the 2015 International Champions Cup with the best free football tips on the match.

Fresh from a humbling 3-1 defeat at the hands of pre-season masters Manchester United, Barcelona face English Champions Chelsea at the Fed-Ex Field on Wednesday in the International Champions Cup. We have the match preview as well as the best football betting tips for this hotly anticipated pre-season friendly.

Football Predictions – Chelsea v Barcelona 29th July 2015.

Jose Mourinho's men barely eked past PSG on penalties after a 1-1 draw on Saturday, and the challenge of the reigning Spanish and European Champions Barcelona looks set to provide another testing warm up for the Blues in the International Champions Cup.

Both Barca and Chelsea have been relatively underwhelming in pre-season so far. They have been largely overshadowed by impressive performances from Arsenal (who have won both warm up tournaments they entered and also managed a ridiculously good 6-0 win over Lyon) and a highly strengthened Manchester United side with three wins from three so far.

Added to underwhelming performances, both Chelsea and Barca have not been over active in the transfer market as yet. The Blues have added Asmir Begovic from Stoke as their second choice keeper, as well as reinforcing their strike force with the misfiring Colombian Radamel Falcao.

Barca have added two players to their squad so far this summer, Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan. However, due to their enforced transfer embargo, these players are not eligible to play for the Catalans until January.

Barcelona will again be without two of their biggest names in Lionel Messi and Neymar, a point to note when considering our Chelsea v Barcelona predictions. A disappointment for the fans, but for Chelsea it could mean the real possibility of outclassing a weakened Barcelona team, much as Manchester United were able to do just a few days ago.

With recent encounters between the two sides taken into account, as well as their form leading up to the match, I feel the game will be extremely even and the most likely outcome is a stalemate. With Barca’s two South American superstars taken out of the equation, the teams are evenly matched on paper.

Both Barca and Chelsea are yet to show anything near their best form in pre-season so far and each side look to be slowly building up their match fitness.

My  first football betting tip for Barcelona v Chelsea in the International Champions Cup is for the match to finish as a draw after 90 minutes, the best odds are 5/2 with Sky Bet.

Much like Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with PSG, this match has players of immense quality in either side. However, with the ultimate aim of the games being to build up form as well as fitness, sharpness in front of goal has been a weakness in both team’s performances thus far in the International Champions Cup.

I expect both teams to have their chances but with abundant poor finishing in previous matches, I expect only a solitary goal from either side in this one.

My second Chelsea v Barcelona prediction is for the match to end 1-1 at 90 minutes, the best odds are 6/1 with William Hill.

As is the case in the International Champions Cup, draws are not allowed, and as such the match would go to penalties. Obviously penalty shoot-outs are always lotteries and with two great goalkeepers between the sticks in Thibaut Courtois and Marc Andre Ter Stegen, some saves are extremely likely.

With Messi and Neymar missing from the list of dedicated Barcelona penalty takers, I feel that Chelsea would triumph in the shoot-out.

For today’s last football prediction on Barcelona v Chelsea in the International Champions Cup, bet on Chelsea to win on penalties if you can find any odds.
