Chelsea vs Brighton betting tips and predictions for the Premier League fixture on Wednesday 3rd April at Stamford Bridge. Brighton are still five points clear of the relegation zone despite defeat to Southampton, and Chelsea are still in the top 4 race.
Chelsea were fortunate winners at Cardiff at the weekend but are generally good at home.
Brighton put up a terrible performance at home to Southampton and lost the match 1-0.
We’re betting on a comfortable home victory in this match to keep Brighton looking over their shoulder.
The controversial win over Cardiff City at the weekend has kept Chelsea right in the hunt for a top four finish, especially after Tottenham were beaten thanks to another Hugo Lloris error in the last minute at Anfield. This all means that Spurs and Manchester United are on 61 points in fourth and fifth (before Wolves vs Man Utd) and Chelsea are a point back on 60.
With just six games left after this one, Chelsea will need an almost faultless run to the end of the season if they are to get a top four place, and they should beat this Brighton side comfortably.
Chris Hughton’s side did win in their last away match at Crystal Palace, but before that had lost five and drawn one of their previous six away league games. Defeat at the weekend means it’s just two wins in 10 now and although they should be safe because Cardiff are now five points adrift, Hughton will know one more win should be enough to survive.
Brighton have got an FA Cup semi-final on Saturday so the players focus might not be 100% on this match. We’re predicting an easy Chelsea victory here and the betting tip is for Chelsea to win to nil.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek came off the bench to get the winning goal against Cardiff on Sunday, which left manager Neil Warnock raging at the officials, but it’s like Sarri will not put him in the starting line-up still. The same applies to Callum Hudson-Odoi, who can get into the England starting line-up but not Chelsea’s it seems.
We’re not expecting Brighton to get on the scoresheet here so our goalscorer tip has to come from the Chelsea team and we’re keeping things simple here and betting on Eden Hazard to score first.
The brilliant Belgian came off the bench to change the game in South Wales at the weekend and with Higuain not firing, it will be left to Hazard to get the Chelsea goals. He is also the set piece and penalty taker which is always a bonus when betting on goalscorer bets, so even though the odds are quite short at 3/1, the next Chelsea vs Brighton betting tip is for Eden Hazard to score first.
Brighton put in one of their poorest performances of the season to lose 1-0 at home to relegation rivals Southampton at the weekend and that result has left the Saints level on points with them.
With an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City on the horizon, it is hard to see how Brighton will trouble this Chelsea side, who have only conceded three goals at Stamford Bridge in their last nine games. There was a shock defeat to Leicester in that run but on the whole, Chelsea are a reliable side on home soil, it is away from home where they are vulnerable.
We’re backing a 2-0 home victory here with the MoPlay sign-up bonus giving us two free £15 bets when we do so.
