Chelsea vs Sunderland betting predictions and preview for Saturday’s Premier League clash with expert free football tips.
What to make of this year’s relegation battle? After such an unpredictable period, Sunderland seem to be the consensus favourite to be the first to drop after seeing their form fall apart since the Capital One Cup Final. However they gained a point on Wednesday night after almost beating Manchester City; can they build on that and somehow avoid relegation?
Now they head to Stamford Bridge and title chasers Chelsea. While Sunderland did in fact beat the Blues in a cup game earlier this season, it’s very hard to see the same happening here. Chelsea really have no room for slip-ups now as they battle with Liverpool and Manchester City, and it’s hard to see the Mackems putting up such a fight as they did against City in the space of three days when looking at predictions for betting on the match.
Chelsea are 1/5 to take care of business in the latest Chelsea v Sunderland betting odds, while Sunderland are a massive 18/1; I can’t see anyone but staunch supporters going near that price. With Chelsea not being known for their striking exploits, maybe someone will talk themselves into a draw at 13/2, though with the Mackems scoring the most own goals this season they’re always likely to help the opposition out.
So my betting tips are all about Chelsea; I expect them to win and to win well by at least a few goals. With their home defensive record of only nine goals conceded I can’t see Sunderland getting a sniff and a Chelsea win to nil is almost guaranteed (4/5). However they can take time to break teams down, as shown by not scoring against the 10 men of Swansea until midway through the second half, and 7/2 for a halftime/fulltime result of draw/Chelsea is appealing.
The bulk of Chelsea’s threat comes from their attacking midfielders, although Demba Ba has gotten more playing time recently and backing him to score first at 9/2 is tempting for our next Chelsea v Sunderland prediction. I’m also looking at Eden Hazard (11/8) and Oscar (15/8) to score anytime, as they showed already this season that they are too lithe and quick for a big and slow Sunderland backline.
Finally, I see this as a big scoring home win for Chelsea once they finally make the breakthrough, so let’s take a punt on exactly that; a 4-0 win can be backed at 12/1 and I think such a result is well within reach.
