Chelsea vs West Ham predictions, betting tips and preview for the Premier League fixture tonight, on Monday 8th April 2019. Chelsea are still in the hunt for a top 4 finish and currently sit behind Arsenal on goal difference after their defeat to Everton yesterday.
Despite their defeat at Everton three weeks ago, Chelsea are still right in the mix for a top 4 finish and they were done a favour by Everton yesterday, who beat Arsenal 1-0. The Gunners are currently in fourth spot but Chelsea can go ahead of both them and Tottenham with a win tonight.
Maurizio Sarri has not got the backing of all the Chelsea fans and it remains to be seen whether he is their boss next season, but for now he will just be concentrating on getting Chelsea into the Champions League. Gonzalo Higuain has struggled since arriving in the Premier League so Olivier Giroud could start this one up front and as ever, they will be relying on Eden Hazard to provide some magic.
The Hammers were shocking in defeat to Everton last time out and they’re poor away from home. Manager Manuel Pellegrini has seen his side lose at Cardiff, Man City, Wolves, AFC Wimbledon, Bournemouth and Burnley in recent away matches, picking up just a point at Crystal Palace in their last seven. They’ve also failed to score in five of those so the first of tonight’s Chelsea vs West Ham betting tips is for Chelsea to win this match without conceding a goal and the odds are 13/10 with Paddy Power.
Chelsea to win – 3/10
Draw – 5/1
West Ham to win – 10/1
Gonzalo Higuain has really struggled since arriving on loan and he was dropped for the win against Brighton last time out in favour of Olivier Giroud, who got on the scoresheet. The Frenchman has been a regular in the Europa League for Sarri this season and they have a game in that competition on Thursday, so he might put Higuain back in from the start here.
Eden Hazard also scored in that game to take his tally to 14 Premier League goals this season and he’s always the obvious choice for an anytime goalscorer tip in Chelsea’s matches, however our selection is going to be England youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi. The winger finally got his first start in the Chelsea shirt against Brighton and set up one of the goals.
He plays without fear and if he starts the match tonight he’s going to be our prediction for an anytime scorer. The best odds for Hudson-Odoi to score tonight are 7/4 with Paddy Power.
West Ham have failed to score in five of their last seven away matches so we’re not banking on any of their players finding the net, but Marko Arnautovic is the shortest in the betting odds at 16/5 with Paddy Power, Javier Hernandez is 16/5 with Unibet.
The Hammers are sat in midtable with nothing to play for, and that showed in their performance against Everton recently. They were side open at the back and Everton could have gone in at half-time four or five ahead.
Their away form in the Premier League is shocking, with just one point picked up from the last 18 available and in that time they’ve lost to nil on five occasions. We’re backing up the earlier prediction of a Chelsea win to nil with a correct score prediction of Chelsea to win 2-0 in this one.
The Stamford Bridge side are always good at home and have only conceded two goals in their last six, all the stats point to another Chelsea clean sheet in this one.
