This weekend’s football betting tips and predictions for Derby v Brentford from our betting preview on the Championship fixture live on Sky Sports.
Derby got their faltering season back on track against Wigan on Monday, running out 2-0 victors and it could have been by a greater margin. The Rams fans will be delighted to see Chris Martin back on the field and he got on the scoresheet as well as strike partner Darren Bent. Steve McLaren’s side were in danger of dropping out of the play-off picture altogether, but they can be confident of finishing in the end of season shake up.
Brentford meanwhile looked dead and buried against Forest when 2-0 down, but they battled back to earn a draw much to the delight of their departing manager Mark Warburton. They have shown great spirit and tenacity all season and haven’t lost many games throughout the course of the campaign. Jota scored the equaliser in injury time and he has been on the magnificent recent additions to break into the team.
This game could be close, but I think there will be goals. The fact that Derby kept a clean sheet against Wigan isn’t much of an indicator that their defence has improved. They conceded twice to Watford and also allowed goal shy teams such as Brighton and Fulham to put a couple past them each. James Tarkowski is an excellent defender, but the away side still have a tendency to ship goals, just 9 clean sheets all season must be one of the poorest in the division.
Both teams to score must be an option in this game and although short, it is almost a given.
Our first weekend football tip for Derby v Brentford is for both teams to score at 8/13 with Bet365.
I’m not sure I can see either of these teams comfortably winning here, so the draw is probably the best option for my result prediction on the match. Derby won’t be happy with just a point, likewise Brentford need the points for their play-off push. But that’s how it may finish as neither side will want to lose the game at this stage of the season.
Derby have drawn 11 of their 41 games this season which is a large amount and they find it difficult to see of Brentford here at Pride Park.
Bet on the result of Derby v Brentford to be a draw this weekend at 27/10 with Bet Victor.
The aforementioned Chris Martin is a tremendous player at this level, he never seemed to cut it in the Premier League, but he hustles, harries and most importantly scores goals. He doesn’t just score tap ins either, he has scored a number of long range efforts through the season and he keeps Derby moving. They struggled without him during their barren run and he is back and is favourite to score the first goal.
He is likelier to open the scoring than any other player on the pitch and I would bet on him to do so.
Both teams to score – 8/13 with Bet365.
Draw – 27/10 with Bet Victor.
Chris Martin to score first – 9/2 with Paddy Power.
